Torchwood [BBC TV Series]

Any fans of Torchwood? The series was a spin-off to Doctor Who that ran between 2006 and 2011 staring John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness.

About:
Spoiler:

Quote:

The series is set in Cardiff and follows a rogue covert agency called Torchwood which investigates extraterrestrial incidents on Earth and scavenges alien technology for its own use. This Torchwood, led by Captain Jack Harkness, is a small, independent organisation, but began as the Cardiff branch of the larger Torchwood Institute, then-defunct, which began in the Victorian era.

As the opening monologue explains, the organisation is separate from the government, outside the police, and beyond the United Nations. Their public perception is as merely a 'special ops' group. The events of the first series take place sometime after the Doctor Who series two finale, in which the Torchwood Institute's London headquarters was destroyed. This format was maintained for the first two series.

Series three, a miniseries, saw the Cardiff headquarters destroyed and the team temporarily operating as fugitives in England's capital city of London, its membership declining and the organisation thoroughly broken over the course of the serial. Series four starts with Torchwood fully disbanded. Jack has left Earth after the events of series three, and Gwen has retired to be with her family. The group is then unofficially reformed, this time operating primarily in the United States, joined by two fugitive CIA agents who have been framed for treason.

I've just finished my rewatch of Series 1 and 2 and thought I'd make a thread! Big Finish have confirmed that a new six part series of audio dramas will start in September being released every month. The first, staring John Barrowman as Jack Harkness and the second staring Gareth David Lloyd as Ianto Jones.

1. The Conspiracy
Starring John Barrowman as Jack Harkness
Captain Jack Harkness has always had his suspicions about the Committee. And now Wilson is also talking about the Committee. Apparently the world really is under the control of alien lizards. That’s what Wilson says. People have died, disasters have been staged, the suspicious have disappeared.

It’s outrageous.

Only Jack knows that Wilson is right. The Commitee has arrived

2. Fall To Earth
Starring Gareth David Lloyd as Ianto Jones
The SkyPuncher is the first private spaceflight. But Ephraim Salt's visionary project has gone horribly wrong - the ship is falling out of the sky and there seems no way to stop it.

Ianto Jones thought the flight would be sabotaged. The only problem is... he's on board.

3. Forgotten Lives
Starring Eve Myles and Kai Owen as Gwen Cooper and Rhys Williams
It has been four years since the Miracle, and Gwen and Rhys's lives have gone back to normal, very normal. They're raising their daughter (they've got pictures they'd be only too happy to show you), they're living in a nice house, and they're almost on top of the laundry.

Captain Jack Harkness has been missing from the world and their lives for a long time. But late one night the phone rings, and they're summoned to an isolated part of North Wales. The Bryn Offa Nursing Home contains a dark secret, an alien threat, and someone who reallyshouldn't be there.

Gwen and Rhys are about to discover that Torchwood stays with you for the rest of your life.

They have said that if the audio drama series is well perceived that there is space for a television return later on. I totally agree though, Eve Myles

I doubt Torchwood would ever return to TV tbh.

If S4 is anything to go by then it can stay that way.

If Torchwood returns to TV it needs to return back to BBC Wales and BBC Wales only. I think it was a bad move creating a co-production between BBC and Starz. Miracle Day should have been another mini-series of five episodes like Children of Earth was, the story was dragged out so it would fit into 10 episodes and it didn't work.

Needs a TV return and fast. The radio dramas have done really well. I'm surprised Amazon or Netflix haven't tried to buy the production rights from BBC.

Here for a revival
