UK Schools if you have a mobile phone in a lesson it must be Turned Off

Thats so simple

Now Any Child that Turns on their Mobile
must be Expelled

Make it dead clear to these Brats
You put your Phone On while in a lesson
you get Expelled

Why the Hell is this not going on now.

If they dare to do that,

Expel them.

i think it's better to keep phones in the class room. It's important to have as many cameras as possible just in case there is a problem, that way there is more evidence.

lewis111 29-08-2015 09:26 AM

The world is moving on and phone's are a new quicker way to gather information.
If all phones are on desks so the teacher can see, and the kids are using them to collect notes etc. instead of listening completely uninterested to a teacher go on and on then I think they are a great thing.

You can't assume every classroom is a potential crime scene :/

I think it's always important to keep authority figures in check.

plus if they record it, it can help them with their notes, if they missed any part of the lesson.

Phones are there to help people cheat they should be banned in schools alltogether

Liam- 29-08-2015 10:41 AM

My school allowed teachers to take student's phones off them over the weekend if they were caught using them, all though the rule was no phones, they were lenient on that rule, they turned a blind eye on people having phones in school, but only came down on them if they started taking the piss, like texting in class or just generally taking advantage of the situation, that's the best way to be imo

Yes Adam

But its only in every lesson they must be turned off,
the Mobile Phones will not be banned from school
as outside of lessons their mum may give them
a shopping text list

We need to keep looking at ways to improve education and phones seems the best solution. When listening to teacher or using un updated test books from the 1980s kids get bored and do not take information in, yes it needs to be the case some of the time, but using technology in class is a more efficient way of gathering information.
If phones are on silent and visible to the teacher there is no problem with them.
People probably said the same when discussing brining computers and laptops into schools and they've turned out great brining in new subjects and new ways to learn, phones could do the same

Teachers aren't an enemy to be monitored... Why would you miss any part of the lesson, if you were distracted by a mobile phone for instance?

Ninastar 29-08-2015 10:56 AM

i remember the day i got caught playing tap tap revenge in ICT on my iPod and had it taken away from me. i had to get a signature and go collect it from head office. i was well nervous

JoshBB 29-08-2015 10:58 AM

Expelled?? You'll be seeing a hell of a lot of kids without GCSEs if you did that arista..

At our school if we're seen using it's taken away from us (and sometimes given detention), and then we get it back after 1 day, then on second time after a week, then a month, it builds up..

Even then I think that's harsh because some lessons let us use them, eg. as a timer in science.

JoshBB 29-08-2015 10:58 AM

smh double post

Daniel-X 29-08-2015 11:02 AM

Expelled is ridiculous personally I turn mine off in school but occasionally I need to make a quick text to my mum or something saying I'm going into town so won't be at home.

I've only ever had my phone taken off me once because I was caught texting in IT but at my school they just give you an hour detention with your HOY and your mum or dad has to go and pick it up from the main office

lewis111 29-08-2015 11:23 AM

Yall schools are so harsh if were caught on our phones they're just like "put it away please" probably not very sufficient but oh well

I always find rules like this astounding and actually pretty out of order. Confiscating a phone for the remainder of the day is understandable and above board, but surely there's got to be some legal issues with withholding someone's property (especially if the student happens to have actually bought it themselves) for such lengthy amounts of time? It's effectively theft.

I would find it hilarious to hear one day of a story in which a student has taken a school to court and won over an incident like this.

Ashley. 29-08-2015 11:41 AM

I never really used my phone in school (plus they didn't really come about until later) but I ALWAYS kept it on just in case someone needed to contact me urgently. I hate having my phone turned off purely for this reason.

Yeah I find it really unfair too, I'd say around half the teachers tend to turn a blind eye or just discretely say "put it away or it'll be confiscated", to which people usually do..

but they have no right to take property tbh. To the end of the day, fine.. but the thing is most of the time people have their phones taken when they're in the canteen before school hours, like they're not even in a lesson...
