Alphabetical Connections Game - Quite Difficult

During my enforced boredom (Broken Fingers) I devised another game to play. The rules are quite simple, but I believe playing it will be more challenging than the word games.

I will start with a word beginning with the letter 'A' and the next player must follow with a word starting with the letter 'B' and that word MUST be have a definite connection to the previous one; for example, if I put; Architecture and the next person puts 'Baroque' that's fine, but if he put say, 'Black' then that's too vague a connection and he/she will be shot :hehe:.

The next person could put 'Caravaggio' who was a Baroque composer so that would be fine and would open up the choices then to other composers too , thus changing the connection, so the next person could put 'Delibes' - who was a composer but not a Baroque one and this would be OK, or some other word beginning with the letter 'D' which is directly connected to Carravaggio or classical music.

The categories are endless and I think it could be a good game.

I will start with an animal:

Aardvaark.

No. I'm almost afraid to ask...what or who are the Gnomes of Zurich? :)

During Harold Wilson's government in the early 60's (64 I think) Labour MP George Brown coined the term 'The Gnomes of Zurich' as an insulting way of describing Swiss Bankers whose 'manipulation of the money markets he blamed for sterling being devalued.

I didn't know that, thanks Kirk. I was a teenager then and more interested in the Rolling Stones than Harald Wilson. (Mind you, I'd STILL rather listen to the Rolling Stones than any politician.
