Surely BB are themselves the biggest 'PC Brigade'...
...it's always said isn't it..ugggghhhh, the 'PC Brigade' etc and blaming that for things like warnings, housemates being removed from the house etc...but celebrities are often chosen for their controversy so surely then it's an opening for discussions because controversial things do need to be discussed...and yet, Tila is removed for her controversial opinions and Fatman Scoop is cautioned for the use of the 'N word' when he was trying to explain his thoughts and an interesting conversation had taken place..
...whether we really dislike someone for their views or not, isn't it better to at least try to understand...so what is the point in BB if it's not also an opening to 'controversy' being discussed, if it's a reality show based on controversy/controversial people and then just closes down the door of any conversations taking place...so not the 'PC Brigade' but BB themselves..?...that's how it seems to me anyway.../discuss etc... |
They think to stop Ofcom complaints is to force housemates not to say anything at all risky. Frankly, this mainly makes the show look a mess more than it does the housemates. I think they're praying for another Ken situation which generated some press attention but they won't find it with a black man billed as a racist.

C5 are so inconsistent.
|
True but you have to remember that if there was no 'PC brigade' then BB would'nt need to be PC themselves.I think BB are just a reflection of society themselves and they have pander to the most sensitive in our society so as not to get in trouble for offending them.
|
Maybe they should have a warning at the beginning for those easily offended to switch off, or maybe they should say - "this programme contains adult discussions, which include race, sexuality etc and are expressing their own personal opinions which BB cannot be held responsible for, people should view with caution."
Because it's all getting a little ridiculous! |
I was screaming @ them putting down a black man for using a racist slur
like how can a person with black skin themselves be racist? stupid. I mean as if the grammatically incorrect warning wasn't enough? |

Scoop was using the word as a general term applied to all sorts of different people/groups. Anyone can be racist particularly if you sub divide the group it applies too as Scoop was.
|
The whole 'pc' name-calling thing is literally an invention by racists to excuse their behaviour and make no attempt to show respect for people other than white guys.. I don't know why people still use it tbh.

I don't know if you even acknowledged my post, but it's called reclaiming a word sweetie. By a minority taking a slur used against them for decades/centuries/howeverlong and reducing it to an endearing term or mere descriptor, that is empowering to that minority and is vital to their rights. For example - gay people taking the word 'queer' and changing the definition to mean anyone who is not straight. black people using the 'n word' (which I will not use because I am white, and white people have been using that word to oppress black people for a long time) as a way to call each other 'brother', as a greeting.. |
What is with the warnings of nudity and bad language too before shows am I watching CBBC or summat?.....

BB may be trying to prevent racism with this zero tolerance approach to using certain words, but all that does is keep racism alive.
How? Because they are giving the n word even more POWER by making it so off limits, not even allowing mature anti-racist debate such as Scoop's. What Scoop was doing was very actively anti-racist, by re-claiming the word, putting it in other contexts and thereby destroying the evil power of the n word by letting the word EVOLVE into something less racist, less powerful. You can't destroy racism by suppression, that just keeps it alive and festering. You have to let debates about it evolve until racism disappears into social equality. That's exactly what Scoop was doing; letting the word evolve, taking away it's racist power. The only way racism will disappear is through positive social evolution, which means having mature debates on the issue - exactly like Scoop's, until racist attitudes disappear across society. He took a brave step forward for anti-racism and BB pulled him right back and punished him for it. BB and so much of the PC brigade may have good intentions in trying to stop the word being used at all, but all it does is keep the evil power of the word alive. The way forward to get rid of racism is exactly what Scoop was doing and absolutely not what BB has done in punishing him for his forward thinking, anti-racist intentions. |
Why because they thought it was a good idea to get rid of a Hitler Supporter ?
I think they maybe understand,it's not about whether she meant it or not or was mentally ill at the time The most important thing is the person who also showed anti gay bigotry toward Austin too was likely to come out with more bigoted things and her saying them encourages others to think the same. IT'S STOPPING OTHERS BEING INFLUENCED TOWARD SUPPORT OF RACISM OR OTHER FORMS OF BIGOTRY THAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT REASON WHY TILA WAS BOOTED. |

The word is offensive so nobody should be saying it.Not white, black,Cuban or Asian(10 points for the name of the song that was from). Suppose in that convo that Scoop had not got the warning and in that same convo a white person had said the word in exactly the same way,No malicious intent but just part of the conversation.Should the white person be warned if Scoop was'nt? I don't think either should be as it was just a harmless conversation.However.... White people have been warned for saying similar words just in conversation in the past.BB have no choice but to adhere to the rules which they have put in place. |
