Most Channel 4 like castings?
 

Out of the channel 5 civilian housemates which castings do you think most resembled the kind of person channel 4 would cast?

For me:
1) Harriet (BB16)
2) Mark (BB12)
3) Sarah (BB16)
4) Sophie (BB14)
5) Callum (BB14)

What do you guys think? And how would you articulate the similarities in casting? Harriet is the only real one for me though - true energy in a housemate, down to earth but also entertaining with an interesting yet relatable background.

Also im aware I only said white people there, but I don't believe channel 5 cast people of color in the same way as channel 4. Not to mention the fact that there are far fewer in channel 5, especially those of asian decent.

Channel 4 always decided the cast based on their backgrounds and who would bounce off of who, Channel 5 assign certain "roles" such as the sassy black girl, the gay and the villain.

Ah absolutely! Can't believe I forgot her, definitely get channel 4 vibes from her.

Nick gave me C4 vibes too

What about Gina? The cast a few stereotypical rich/snobby people too like Derek and Ben.

I said Gina because she strikes me as someone who would've been in BB11. Caroline cause of Grace BB7.

Helen Wood probably as an unknown in CBB 2011/12 (on C4). Cause her Rooney stuff sorta reminds me of Faria Alam's affair.

Made a thread scarily similar to this during BB16 but it was laughed off :laugh: I'll hunt it down and let you know what I said

c4 did this too tho, more than c5 imo.

tbh I don't think C5's casting is as bad as everyone makes it out to be.

BB12/BB15's casts were awful and nothing like C4 but I feel like most BB13/BB14/BB16 housemates would have been cast in a C4 series.

I don't see this in the slightest, Gina was way too good for the **** heap that was BB11. Also Gina reminds me of Grace and Derek more than Caroline does.

TBH, even the housemates on C4 were fame-hungry. I mean BB2 had its fair share of wannabies and that was only the 2nd series back in 2001. It's been that way especially since BB6. I just think the difference is between the C4 casts and the C5 casts is that the majority of C5 casts are recruits who have actually been in the media beforehand whereas the fame hungry ones on C4 were just normal people who wanted fame after the show and haven't been in the media prior to entering the house, if that makes sense. Most housemates on C5 also have agents as well whereas on C4 housemates didn't and would probably get one after leaving the house.

I get what you mean. But she reminds me of someone who would've been cast in that series on C4, if that makes sense? The series being good or bad has nothing to do with it.

I can also imagine her being cast in BB8 too. But I can't imagine her in any other C4 series tbh. Not even in the golden era.

I've never really got why people think there's much of a difference, to be honest.

C5 needs a season with a diverse cast the last diverse cast we had was like BB10
