Doctor Who: Jenna Coleman quits
 
Doctor Who companion Jenna Coleman has quit the time-travelling sci-fi series – to spend more time in the 19th Century.

Jenna – time and space-hopping Clara Oswald – has landed a major role as Queen Victoria in a £10million ITV drama.

The glamorous actress , 29, will play the monarch from when she became queen as a frumpy 18-year-old in 1837, through the early part of her 63-year reign.

A source said: “Jenna clinching the role has been a closely guarded secret. There’s a lot of excitement about the series.”

ITV hope the eight-part epic will give them a ratings hit like Downton Abbey.

I'm always initially sceptical when these stories about the actors playing the Doctor or the companions quitting come out since there have been quite a few false alarms, but if she's got this new show then it's probably true.

I love Clara so it's a shame, but I'm always excited about a new companion too.

I hated clara in her first series but this lady series I really grew to her. But well done to Jenna for landing that Role i will be watching for sure.

I would love a series where the doctor picks up a few people thought the series and ends up with a group of companions thats something from the classic series that I really love.
