Did anyone else find his "Don't make me angry" Hulk bravado completely cringe-worthy and fake?

This bloke is the cringiest person I have ever had the misfortune to watch...him and Chloe are so pathetic.
The realism is that people like Stevie who seem so mild mannered are the most likely people to turn...I really can't make him out...

I found that scene totally embarrassing.

Poor Stevie...he really wants to defend his girlfriend, like any guy would....but it's just not in him.
