EIGHTIES TV chef Rustie Lee has signed up for I’M A CELEB – less than a year after pulling out of the show at the last minute and leaving ITV in the lurch.
Rustie, famed for her foghorn laugh and wacky humour, has been a target for bosses for more than a decade, having first been lined up to appear back in 2003.
Last season it looked as though jungle chiefs had finally got their girl. But the Jamaican-born cook, pulled out late on citing medical reasons.
Now we can reveal she has signed on the dotted line and will head Down Under next month.
Rustie shot to fame as a TV chef on breakfast show TV-am in 1983.
She joined Ukip in 2004, unsuccessfully standing for the party in the 2005 General Election.
A source said: “Rustie is larger than life and everyone knows who she is. She’s bubbly and fun and will have a huge presence in the jungle.
“But she has some controversial political views that might rub some campmates up the wrong way.
“Whatever happens, she should be great viewing and at least she’ll be able to whip up some decent Bush Tucker grub.”
As well as TV-am, Rustie fronted ITV’s Game For A Laugh in the mid-Eighties and more recently appeared on Channel 5 reality show Celebrity Super Spa.
