Anyone know anything about CATS ?

Does anyone here know much about cats? reason I'm asking is our beloved Sally seems to have just disappeared today, she is an old girl but always, always without fail comes for her food as soon as we let the dogs out in the mornings.she LOVED her grub and her good morning cuddles, the neighbour said he saw her early this morning, but there has been no sign since, which is worrying as she is always about and never goes off,Does anyone have a clue as to why she would just disappear. :-(

Our cat had dementia and forgot where we lived?

Is she chipped Kazanne? Ring the RSPCA and ask if any accidents involving cats locally have been reported if she is.

I don't think she's chipped,we had her as a kitty from someone else,I will ring the vets in the morning if she doesn't turn up and see if they have had any news ,but someone told me that sometimes they go of to die !!:bawling:

Sometimes they can wander into areas like sheds and accidentally get shut in, could be worth knocking on a few neighbours doors and asking. Cats no matter what age do occasionally take off for a few days or longer then return as if nothing has happened whilst their owners have been pulling their hair out with worry. Don't let yourself get disheartened Kaz, hope she returns soon.

she is either at someones house getting petted and some food, just gone a bit further afield or been run over

3 most likely scenarios

the last one being the most unlikely but best to steel yourself

...aww try not to think the worst Kaz....if she doesn't usually go off, then she could have just wandered a little and then easily got a bit lost just because she's not used to those bearings... but they have a great homing instinct...

I could never have an outdoor cat, it would worry me too much :worry:

Kazanne 04-10-2015 06:10 PM

Thanks guys,I am trying to stay positive, We have checked the garden ,checked the neighbours, but I will ring the vets tomorrow ,see if anything has been reported, I am just worried as she is so old and fragile, hopefully she will just turn up out of the blue,I don't think she's been run over LT as we would have heard I'm sure.

My mom has an outdoor cat and she often disappears for a day or so and comes back again. Don't panic just yet! My own cat is indoor so I don't have to worry so much!

Jordan. 04-10-2015 06:43 PM

I always worry when my cat doesn't come when I open the door to get him in but I just leave the door or window open for a while and rattle his food tray and he soon shows up.

Liam- 04-10-2015 06:47 PM

All of my cats are outdoor cats, but the one of them is always disappearing, he spends days on end out and about, then he pops home every now and then to eat and spend the night in with the others, I wouldn't worry too much if I were you, she's probably just trotted off somewhere a bit further to have a nose at something, I hope she comes back soon

Worrying Kaz my friend walks around the nearby streets shaking his food bowl when he goes AWOL, he always returns, fingers crossed

Cats often leave off their own accord, especially when they're older. They aren't like dogs, they don't get as attached to their owners and less so with age. The best thing is to let her go and enjoy the wild and if she wants to come back then she will.

how long has she been missing for? I wouldnt worry if its less than a day!

She's been missing all day,but the worry is that she has NEVER disappeared before and she is an old cat and eats loads and loads everyday all day,she stays around the home and garden, she has her own cat house outside, that is why it's so out of character for her to just go and not come back for her food.

Josy 04-10-2015 07:47 PM

She could have someone else feeding her, found a friend, sometimes they go away to have kittens and...

Sorry to add this but cats are also known to disappear to pass away, if I was you I would try rattling her food/dish see if she appears.

She's always been quite a shy cat Josy,I'm 100% sure she wont be having kittens,I have done the food thing, but her being so old the sight and hearing may not be good,I fear it's the latter ,I just don't like the thought of never finding her or knowing what happened to her. I don't want to think about her being hurt somewhere, you know what jerks are out there, well fingers crossed she turns up tomorrow.

Natalie. 04-10-2015 08:08 PM

They go to pass away, it happened to my grandad's cat
I really hope you find her soon Kaz, she's probably safe somewhere and be home soon
