Lucid Dream

Quote:

A lucid dream is any dream in which one is aware that one is dreaming.
Have you ever had one? Have you ever tried lucid dreaming?

Apparently you get at least four in your life. So far I've had none!

Niamh. 09-10-2015 09:29 AM

I've had 2, one when I was a teenager. It was a nightmare really, there was a demon following me down a dark country road, I couldn't see him but I heard hooves behind me and I knew it was the devil or a demon. Then i realised I was dreaming, I couldn't change things that were happening in the dream a part from my own actions so I closed my eyes and curled up into a ball on the ground and decided to just stay like that till I woke up, then I felt a hand on my leg start to drag me but I woke up soon after that.

The other one I had a few months ago, someone was chasing me in it and I realised I was dreaming again so I decided I should be able to fly to get away and I was but it was more like a chicken trying to fly then cool Superman flying

Yeah I have I've been dreaming not sure what about, realised in the dream I was dreaming and the dream carried on.

Oooh that's interesting! I heard you can make yourself lucid dream, but apparently it's very dangerous! However I'd love to lucid dream because you could do things and they won't matter, like robbing a bank or something

Kizzy 09-10-2015 10:51 AM

I was told to avoid it, like astral projection you might not make it back

I've realise I'm dreaming mid dream and been like hang on I can stop this it's a dream, and woke myself up.

mmm well, like I said both times that it happened to me I wasn't able to control my surroundings or other people in the dream just what I was doing myself. How do you make yourself Lucid dream?

I think everyone gets that though? When a dream is about to end and you begin to come back into awareness, you're sort of living two different realities. You can feel your duvet, you can feel your head against your pillow, but in your mind you're still in your dream. Sometimes, when I get this, I like to hang onto the dream for a little bit, especially if it's a good one.

It's weird i seem to be able to naturally get them on a regular basis. My friend does all these methods like writing down his dreams after waking up and all this other stuff to increase his chances of going lucid but i seem to get at least one every couple of months. it's great fun, i love it.

and can you actually change things like your surroundings or other peoples actions when you get one?

Sometimes, a few examples..one time i remembering floating around my house, i felt like a ghost. it was weird. another time i was like i'd really like to fly for some reason i can't quite remember why,so i started like hovering off the ground and of course sex dreams with various celebrities and girls that are far outside my league  But yeah most of the time it's like what you were saying Niamh, where i'd realise i'm dreaming but can't change anything and if it got weird i'd shake my head and i'd wake up. They used to occur on a more regular basis when i went through my acid phase but they've calmed down a good bit now. Still pop up now and again though.

So taking acid is the secret to Lucid Dreaming then? Sounds about right

Ramsay 09-10-2015 12:54 PM

Well i got them before of course it just seemed to make it occur more often :joker: Making a dream journal is supposed to be a great way of getting a Lucid.

DemolitionRed 09-10-2015 02:38 PM

Only once and like Ramsay, it was substance induced.

I remember looking up at the ceiling and seeing a small spider and thinking, I could make that spider grow bigger and bigger. In an instant the spider was huge and climbing down the wall towards me. The problem is, once you are in a lucid dream and make stupid things like that happen, you can very easily lose control.

Negative persuasive lucid dreams are not something I would ever recommend, so if you're like me and can't resist pressing the red button, leave it well alone.

Dollface 09-10-2015 02:43 PM

I have lucid dreams every night

Kate! 09-10-2015 03:38 PM

Only once and it was awful

Headie 09-10-2015 03:49 PM

I used to have them loads and I could control when I woke up as well, but I don't seem to get them anymore (although there are the odd few times where I'm aware I'm in a dream but can't actually change anything)
