Aspiration is important which is exactly why we shouldn't just be okay with inequality. Everyone deserves an equal shot at life, and if they fail we shouldn't just leave them to die.

How do you equate working hard and living behind gates?

Living in a gated community is not a measure of success in life. It is a lifestyle choice. I don't even see how it is being linked to inequality

Obviously if people want to segregate themselves that's fine, but how does that mean inequality, generally, is good :conf:

I think it is more a question of feeling secure in an ever degenerating society and an increasingly dangerous world Liam, more than any desire to segregate themselves - much the same as to why most people erect fences, walls and gates around their individual properties. 'Open-Plan' living looks great as an architect's wash drawing, but the reality is; lawns marred by other peoples litter - including KFC and McD packaging and Fish and Chip wrappers - and soiled by other peoples dogs, and ignorant car drivers shining their headlights through your windows in the early hours as they use your drive to reverse in to turn around.

Oh, then there's the problem that anything not screwed down will disappear far more quickly.

Perhaps arista is eyeing up a move to South Africa or Zimbabwe
