CofE churches may soon only open at Easter and Christmas
One in four parishes has fewer than ten worshippers

Never happen round here. Our local C of E Primary School won't let new kids go there if they have'nt been going to the local church for a couple of years before. The vicar has to sign a form to vouch for you.Keeps the church busy.

how repulsive that any church is inveigled with a school
:umm2: |
I don't agree with faith schools tbh, people from different religions should mix. It's not good for society to separate everyone.
(I also don't agree with all-boys and all-girls schools) |
I think McDonald's or Tesco should buy them and bring shops back to the community
|
This is misleading :nono: it's only the church's in the middle of nowhere like where LT lives that are going to do this, someone was interviewed about this yesterday on5live sorry to burst your bubble LT:laugh:

Christianity is only worth the hassle when there's an excuse to binge on chocolate

Wouldn't be surprised if it happened to our village Church. I last went Christmas before last and even then there were only about 10 people there  We do have a CofE school here as well but that has barely any pupils either
|
I've been to church this morning to see my little boy in his first harvest Festival play,it was lovely, I love churches and it would be a shame to see some of them closed through the year.

no child should be exposed to any cult or superstition. They should be taught the best of our knowledge that has been fully peer reviewed not some middle eastern utter bollocks form 2000 years ago
Its a bloody disgrace and shame on a parent who would put a kid to a "superstition school" |

I don't have a problem with sunday schools or extra-curricular activities provided by religious organisations but I am not a huge fan of segregation. Given the decision, I probably wouldn't ban faith schools altogether but the schools need to do a lot more to show other aspects of society. |

Faith schools cover all religions and all festivals, Diwali, EID not sure Sunday schools exist any more Quote:
Why would you want your kids to go to a faith school though if you don't have that particular faith |

My son has not been Christened, we do not attend Church and he has no siblings. He still got a place at our local C of E school which happens to have the best ofsted report of all the local schools. It's not as hard to get them in as it used to be.

If people want to study their own religion, they can still do that, I did. But it was outside school hours. |
Personaly for me ALL religion should be left behind at the school gates.
