Like, I get that nuclear power can't just be banned overnight, but it needs to be phased out over time and gradually replaced with clean alternatives like solar and wind.

This isn't for us, it's for them to sell... They're just keeping it here as it's safer.

The clean alternatives still means that they can do the same amount of damage but just got their source from a cleaner power.

The USA is not a democracy, at least with China, Russia etc, there is no pretence at it. Everyone knows what they are getting. For the record, when Putin was elected, he was universally popular with the people, they were in full support of him, it doesn't get much more democratic in those terms
