Not good at all, poor bairn.

So, you can't drive under 17 as you are not deemed old enough, then perhaps you shouldn't be allowed todrive at 92 as if could be deemed too old..

nope he was the passenger, the driver was 80.

'Other witnesses said the car’s elderly driver appeared to have suffered a “medical episode” and lost consciousness at the wheel moments before the car veered on to the pavement. Surrey police said an 80-year-old woman was driving the car. A 92-year-old man was a passenger and both were taken to hospital.'

How awful....

My dad had to take my grandads car off him when he was 90 as he was a danger...it was a shame as he really got cross at my dad but I do think people's reactions diminish as they get older, hopefully it won't take too many incidents like this for a review to be at least considered

Beyond a certain age people should automatically have to re-do their driving test.

'You can use this service to renew your current British driving licence if you’re already 70 or over (or soon will be) and:

your British licence has expired – or it’s going to expire within 90 days
you’re a resident of Great Britain (there’s a different service in Northern Ireland)
you meet the minimum eyesight requirement
you aren’t prevented from driving for any reason
Once you reach 70, you must renew every 3 years.

You can change the licence photo at the same time as renewing your licence.'

My grandparents did this but all they had to do was fill in a form and I think they got it signed by their doctor. My grandfather really wasn't safe to drive; I mean, hell would of frozen over before he could of got round to doing an emergency stop. He drove like he walked- slowly and indecisively.

If the police had seen him driving dangerously or if he'd caused an accident, the police could of insisted on a test re-take but he carried on driving dangerously until he was 83 and fortunately never killed anyone, though I'm sure he caused a lot of road rage :hehe:

Edited to say, I loved my granddad, just hated his driving.
