David Bowie releasing new album 'Blackstar' in January (new song 'Lazarus')

On January 8, 2016, David Bowie will release a new album called Blackstar, the Times of London reports. The 7-song LP was reportedly recorded at the Magic Shop studio in New York with local jazz musicians. Its 10-minute title track, recently excerpted as the theme tune for the Sky Atlantic heist series The Last Panthers, is apparently due November 19. (That track will also feature in Lazarus, the stage show Bowie is co-writing.) The Times describes the record as "an album of long, jazzy jams mixed with the kind of driving beat pioneered by Seventies German bands Can and Kraftwerk."

Elsewhere in the story, which quotes a "Bowie insider" who claims to have heard the finished record, the full title track is said to contain "Gregorian chants, a soul section, various electronic beats and bleeps and Bowie's distinctive vocals." The source describes the record as "completely bonkers."

As yet, there's no confirmation from Bowie's camp.

If I could see anyone live it would be him. He's getting on a bit though so it's probably a stamina thing which is why he doesn't? :shrug:

Postpone it a year, Adele has already confirmed her #1 spot every week next year.

However it's great he isn't taking a long gap again.

..Shaun, hold me...this is David at his best, his most genius..and as always, the video is an art in itself, he's such a storyteller ../it's quite dark as I thought it might be but I love how he's brought back Major Tom and finally laid him down...uggghhh, I love this man...I LOVE THIS MAN...:lovedup:...

Utter Bliss

I just watched the video for Lazarus, it feels so weird, knowing that he recorded all that, knowing his end was near. It all feels so much like him though, he was a fantastic artist and will be missed massively.
