Do you have a Barometer?

I have a variety at any given time but I still have my big brass ships barometer I got once as a leaving gift. I use a digital one for my readings but I still look at my aneroid ones too.

Its old tech now but still nice to have on the wall

The annotation is just as a guide but weather is far more complicated than dry and fair etc

No but I do have a window :hee:

Mokka 27-10-2015 04:23 PM

Yes... I do

Liam- 27-10-2015 04:24 PM

My parents do, so by association, yes.

We used to have a barometer at home when I was young I'm never sure it worked though

One of these things trolled my holiday last year. Went to Portugal, the day we arrived the weather was awful... And there was one of these on the wall confirming that. The next day it said the same and I was like, "No oooo!!" but then went out and it was sunny, if a bit cool and very windy. The next day it was still the same, but the weather was perfect. Hot, but not too hot, and just a nice gentle breeze here and there. It stayed that way the rest of the holiday.

Barometer never moved once it was clearly broken or just decorative or something. Stupid ****ing thing. I was like "Right, that's it, pack up, we're just going home, holiday is a washout, Barry Barometer sez so."

This reminds me of an embarrassing moment when I wasn't paying attention in Geography class and our teacher asked what a Stevenson screen was, and I put my hand up and said it's a square in Dublin, ( Stephens Green) and he sent me out of the class as he thought I was taking the piss
