The Rise of Gay "Chemsex"

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2015/...6563142602.jpg

Gay men having 72-hour sex sessions with multiple partners under the influence of illegal drugs is 'causing rates of HIV and other STIs to soar'
  • Drugs including GHB and crystal meth are being used to enhance pleasure
  • Users often found to have unprotected sex and sex with multiple partners
  • Chemsex is growing in popularity, 'particularly among gay men'
  • Doctors are warning people are also jeopardising their mental health

Its growing popularity, particularly among gay men, has led doctors to warn that HIV rates and sexually-transmitted diseases cases are rising rapidly.

Sex during the illegal drug-fuelled sessions is often unprotected - with those having chemsex reporting an average five sexual partners per session, according to the British Medical Journal.

Are you involved in Chemsex?:nono:

kirklancaster 04-11-2015 12:52 PM

Yeah.

I have to take an athritis tablet so I can walk to the bed, and an anti-amnesia pill to help me remember what I've walked to the bed for. Once on the bed I'm ok - unless my wife wants to join in, then I also need a viagara. This is chem-sex right? :hehe:

arista 04-11-2015 12:56 PM

Yes Dirty buggers

Does your wife then take an amnesia pill after the act Kirk? :hehe:

Chemsex is a massive problem and what annoys me the most about the issue is that it seems to get NO coverage in the media. And I think a big reason for that is that people are afraid of seeming homophobic by catagorizing it as a gay problem, when it really is. That's not to say that straight people don't also use drugs but it's about culture. And there is a gay culture which contained within it has a subset who are actively promoting the use of drugs through outlets such as Grindr, and noone seems to be doing ANYTHING about it :conf:

I think it's only gay people who can stop this sort of thing but it starts with education. Unfortunately we live in a society where stuff like this isn't talked about in schools but if you want to change a social mindset, it starts with the young while they are still learning and forming their attitudes towards life and health and sexual safety. I say send gay men who have been affected by drugs, diseases and in particular, 'chemsex' into schools to talk to the pupils, and maybe we'll start to see a change.

Ew, I see people talking about this all the time and it's disgusting, alright have your fun but to actively put yourself in dangers way by taking part in something that is so unsafe and reckless is disgusting to me, the types of gays that take part in these things should be avoided at all costs imo, breeding grounds for all sorts.

This is not a new thing, it's just a new buzz word that the media is jumping on. kinda like "twerking" people have been jiggling their asses while dancing since the 90's, same with gay guys having marathon sex on meth. I certainly had some amazing 2 day sessions in my youth.

It's not new but it's becoming more commonplace within the gay community which is the danger.

Be honest Kirk. You only take Viagra to stop you rolling out of bed.

It seems hedonism outweighs the risk.
Not sure how to combat this it's a culture thing :/ Awareness and advice I guess.

yes, the culture of young beautiful people doing drugs and having sex in their free time... i don't know how you'd combat that culture, it seems very natural.

Yes but again, it's not just about the fact that it's happening, it's that it's rising at such a high rate amongst gay men that's the issue.

Smithy 04-11-2015 06:49 PM

Tbh I think people know the risks when they engage in behaviour like this, if they get some kind of disease it's their own fault

This tbh.

If anyone isn't aware in this day and age of the risks of unprotected sex and drug use then there's nothing that can be done for them.
