The best and worst endings to a long running TV series...

..I don't know if there is already a thread, but....

..your best/worst, most disappointing last episode or ending to a TV series that you have loved..?..

Survivors, a forgotten TV series from the BBC in 2008 it ended with a "to be continued" but never returned <\3

the best
the office (obviously, it wasn't the best episode of the lot but it was a good ending)
cougar town (incredible because it's just perfect and actually one of the best finale's i've ever seen)

in between
himym (just because it seemed rushed, i was sat there at 2am crying my eyes out, i liked the ending)

worst
parks and rec (ONLY because of how the last season was, bc it was in the future, it didn't feel like the proper show. i liked everything else)

Best
Easily the best ending for me was Six Feet Under, it was perfect.
Breaking Bad I was also very happy with
Mad men was pretty good

In Between
Weeds was a bit Meh but it wasn't terrible

Worst

Worst by a long way and so so disappointing for me because at one time I would have considered it my favourite show was Dexter, horrendously terrible, laughable in fact
Lost as well i was not happy with

I agree with Niamh on some of the terrible ones, although I still love Dexter as a programme despite it.

My favourite ending to a TV Show probably is DS9 from the Star Trek franchise.

Best: Lost, Friday Night Lights, Justified, Breaking Bad
Worst: 24, Californication

Best I can think of:
Breaking Bad
Frasier
Blackadder

Worst:
'The Killing' (the Danish version) wasn't necessarily bad, in fact I quite enjoyed it, but it was a very sudden and surprising twist that felt a bit out of character which was kinda disappointing.
Friends' ending was a nice cherry on an otherwise crappy cake I suppose... good episode and quite emotional but idk, still full of everything that made the last 3 or 4 seasons unwatchable.

Still need to see the finales of the Sopranos, the Wire, Mad Men, etc :/

I can only think of Merlin and Primeval as having crappy endings

Ugh Primeval </3

Wasn't the same when everyone started quitting.

I loved Lost's, Merlin's and Ugly Betty's finales.

Fringe's, while not bad by any means, was just slightly underwhelming for me only because
Spoiler:

I'm not a big fan of the reset button and everything from the final season being undone. Well, nearly everything, Walter had to be erased from existence for it to work so there was at least a lasting consequence there.

It was a nice episode and suitably emotional for a series finale, though.

Okay now I'm slightly worried (yeah, I still haven't watched series 3 ).

I remember I was on the DS discussion thread for the finale on the night and everyone was livid, I was one of the few who was satisfied.

Best:
Breaking Bad - yeh
Buffy the Vampire Slayer - yeh
Cougar Town - one of the best finales I've seen
Glee - it has been a mess since season 2 but the finale was great in ending character's individual stories
Parks and Recreation - I liked the style of the episode and it rounded up each character
Ugly Betty - it was pretty perfect but was ended far too soon. Very underrated show.

Mediocre:
Angel - felt unfinished, but it was axed without warning
Community - same as above really
Desperate Housewives - the last season was a bit of a mess overall and of course it was all about Susan!
Friends - should've ended in season 8, plus Rachel should've went to Paris
Gossip Girl - underwhelming
Revenge - it was a bit meh, wasn't it?

Worst:
How I Met Your Mother -
Spoiler:

the last season was enjoyable but the finale was written in 2006 so it was a bit strange. I didn't like the way it showed certain characters futures because it was out of the ordinary. They spent a full season on a wedding and, well, if you've seen the finale it makes the whole ninth season null. It had a good end for two characters though.

Yeah I found it mediocre. I also hated how they brought back Katherine for 5 minutes of the finale and yet they gave like 20 mins of screentime for Renee. It almost seemed unfinished in a way too.

Yeah If I pretend the whole last season never happened then I love Dexter still
