Don't you hate it when...

You say something negative about a person who happens to be black you get called racist and if you dare dislike somebody who just so happens to be homosexual you are labeled homophobic?

Winds me right up

Denver 06-11-2015 06:46 PM

I understand what you mean its sad we are not allowed to have opinion without being shot down by people who are desperate to be hero's and defend these people.

Smithy 06-11-2015 06:47 PM

Sounds like something a homophobic racist would say

Oh I know its happened to me numerous times.

kirklancaster 06-11-2015 07:14 PM

Ha Ha - You are but novices.

I am forever being 'misunderstood' and perceived as 'Racist' or 'Xenophobic' when I am nothing of the sort.

I do tell the truth though and sometimes that is not what some want to hear if it does not fit in with their own naive viewpoints.

Ah well; 'C'est La Vie'

Dollface 06-11-2015 07:20 PM

I actually think people should be banned if they call another person racist or xenophobic or homophobic or whatever, it should be against the rules because it's a very personal and insulting thing to call someone when they haven't even said anything racist/homophobic, it shouldn't be allowed.

I hate people for who they are and not what skin colour they have. I feel like i dont say it enough. The people who bring skin colour in when you say you hate someone, tend to be more racist as they look for a reason to bring race into something. It's one of my biggest pet hates

lostalex 06-11-2015 11:21 PM

I've heard some people even say if you say you you don't like rap music or spanish music you get called a racist. it's insane.

People who jump to conclusions like this, often make things so much worse because it completely erases true cases of racism. I hate people who claim everything is racist.

Misunderstood?

That's what all grumpy old men say. :hehe:

You hate the world and the world hates you. :idc:

Ammi 07-11-2015 05:58 AM

...yeah, it's a pretty grim and serious thing to lay on someone, so I understand what you mean, Amy...and think that any possible misunderstoods should always be clarified first so there is no room for misunderstood, when inferring something in that vein...and the worry for me is the danger that it can just dilute and dilute and dilute etc, so that people think...'oh not again..'/type thing and racism not be acknowledged or recognised when it really should be...

Well I agree that people shouldn't be labeled as racist or homophobic for just disliking individuals in those groups, however it would start getting dodgy for me if somebody was disliking nearly every black or gay person that they was seeing, and of course if the person also made dodgy remarks about black or gay people.

I actually do remember on my first year on here that I got labeled as homophobic for thinking that Mario behaved like a pervert.:joker:

 You are almost correct Marsh, but I don't hate the world - just some of the despicable scumbags in it. Mind, that number is rapidly growing.

Well maybe you need to reword some of your posts then because more than one person has "misunderstood" your point of view. I'm sure with your impressive CV you can do this :hee:

Now, I do not wish to waste my time on a Saturday morning becoming dragged into futile gument - I really don't - but here I could be forgiven for MISUNDERSTANDING:

1) Your real reason for coming onto this thread and commenting on yet another of my posts which was NOT addressed to you and which was made in the same non-toxic, lighthearted vein as the other posts on this thread.

2) Why you did so to resurrect a particularly heated exchange from another thread, in which - exactly as the OP outlines here - I was lambasted for speaking the truth by a few people who MISUNDERSTOOD what I was saying - some of them DELIBERATELY misinterpreting what I said so that they could attack me and make capital out of the situation.

3) And why you feel that you can conceal here, your patently transparent and unnecessary sarcastic derision of my English qualifications - "impressive C.V" - by the addition of a 'Tee Hee; emoticon.

I COULD misunderstand the above, but of course, I know that you would not do such a thing.

Incidentally, when you say: "more than one person has"misunderstood" your point of view, you are really saying that less than a handful of the 'usual suspects' have CLAIMED to misunderstand my point of view, but this is negated by the 'more than a handful' of members who DO understand my point of view, in addition to the many, many, members who have read my posts but have declined to comment - one way or the other.

Probably through fear of suffering the very backlash of being accused of Xenophobia or Racism, EXACTLY as the OP states.

:laugh::laugh::hehe::hehe::hehe::wavey::wavey:

Cherie 07-11-2015 10:52 AM

As usual you have had a MAJOR sense of humour failure over my post, let face it you were making a sly dig in yours and that is what you came into the thread to do, so whats not respond to. Not sure who these "usual suspects" are that you keep referring to, If I have a point if view I will air it, I don't resort to pming to get back up or have a moan.
