Anger at BBC for showing plane crash on Doctor Who

Quote:

Viewers have vented their fury at the BBC after last night's episode of Doctor Who showed a plane being shot out of the sky by a missile - just a week after 224 people were killed in the Russian jet tragedy.

Fans took to social media to say the timing of the episode was 'insensitive' given the suspected terror attack on the Russian Metrojet, which left the holiday resort of Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt, killing all on board.

It also comes just days after Britain and the US indicated that Islamist terrorists could have brought down the jet, which was en route to St Petersburg in Russia, with a bomb.

In last night's Doctor Who, the episode opened showing recap scenes of an evil doppelganger of the doctor's assistant Clara, played by Jenna Coleman, firing a missile at the plane.

Previously, Clara had been duplicated by evil Zygons and shot at the plane with the intention of killing the Doctor and others on board.

The jet is successfully blown up and the wreckage is seen burning on the ground.

But some viewers watching the episode were horrified and vented their fury on Twitter.

Will Cummings said: 'Given the situation in Egypt, perhaps blowing up a plane on this week's episode of Doctor Who was not wise.'

It's so stupid when people complain about this kind of stuff, what are they supposed to do?

smudgie 08-11-2015 10:38 AM

Quite surprised to hear they showed scenes like that.
Perhaps the fact that it wasn't to do with Britain makes it different, the norm is when a disaster or tragedy happens in real life the telly people normally postpone an episode that depicts the same thing on a programme.

People just love a good spot of outrage.

People love to find reasons to be upset, they love to complain.

Axe it

They could hardly cut it out of the episode also it was shot down from the ground and only had two people on board (I'm not sure what happened to the pilots unless they died)

Please stop listening to these terrible Daily Mail articles. Their new thing of making a story out of a few tweets and presenting them as if they represent a sizable portion of an audience is so incredibly lazy and misleading, yet apparently it's working as intended.
