Master of None (Netflix Original)

Getting insanely good reviews so far. I've watched the first 6 or 7 episodes and it's really good, each episode usually tackles a serious issue that you'd usually not expect in a comedy (racism, feminism, immigration, relationships with parents and old people, etc).

Quote:

On Rotten Tomatoes, the series holds an approval rating of 100%, based on 41 reviews, with an average score of 8.5/10. The site's critical consensus reads, "Exceptionally executed with charm, humor, and heart, Master of None is a refreshingly offbeat take on a familiar premise."

On Metacritic, the series holds a score of 91 out of 100, based on 28 reviews, indicating "universal acclaim". James Poinewozik of The New York Times called it "the year's best comedy straight out of the gate" and a "mature rom-com." IGN's Matt Fowler gave the entire first season an 8.8 out of 10, saying "by the second episode it takes flight and offers up a very funny, unique take on food, dating, relationships, etc (the usual suspects). Ansari's is a smart and engaging presence and his perspective on things lends itself very well to this type of single-camera comedy. And his supporting cast, particularly Wells, is on point. A few episodes may have fizzled out right at the finish...but there's no denying Master of None* 's success overall."

Oh yeah I want to watch this, for Aziz

LemonJam 10-11-2015 06:23 PM

I watched episodes 1-5 today. It's pretty great.

I shall give it a try. Hopefully Aziz isn't as irritating as he was in P&R.

This looks super good based off of the trailer. I'm definitely going to give it a watch.

Give it a pass if that's what you thought in P&R

He basically is the same character

God damn it I finished the series in a day I have no self control

But yeah pretty entertaining throughout.

Ok... I prejudged this show based on episode 1...

Episode 2 was poignant and beautiful... And then they keep getting better... I think I have one or two left, but this is a must watch series imo.
It isn't like anything else on tv

Just watched episode 1 and it's put me off having kids :worry:

Season 2 has been released on Netflix and has gotten incredibly good reviews again

LemonJam 20-05-2017 08:55 AM

Anyone watched this yet? I'm on episode 5 right now (it's good Zoning out a lot though. Probably because I'm binge watching it (kinda the problem with Netflix shows that get released all at once)

HOWEVER

Aziz's RL cousin plays his cousin in the show and he is honestly the hottest person to grace television ever and I just had to let everyone know.

I finished it yesterday. Such a creative season, I definitely preferred it to Season 1. Always thought Aziz was just your standard comedian/comedy guy but he's a genius.
