The LUX BUG appreciation thread

The Lux (Latin for Light) is positively mythical; a creature legendary for its friendliness to mankind. Down through the ages, the Lux has become a symbol of hope and care and salvation.

Whenever unwary travellers lose their way, be it on a moonless night on the dark brooding moors, or in the sinister shadows of the densest forests, the Lux senses their distress and goes to them, leads them back onto the right path by illuminating their path with its eerie green glow.

The Lux does not merely reserve its help for humans, but also helps other insects and animals. If it sees an injured insect then it will gently pick it up and place it inside a small pouch located at the back of it's body. Inside the pouch, special organs provide food for the injured insect and tiny blood vessels maintai a stable temperature. Once the injured insect is nursed back to full health, the Lux sets it free.

As benign as it is, the Lux has a sophisticated and lethal defense system. Tiny black nodules on it's ears expand whenever the Lux is being threatened or attacked, and razor sharp spikes shoot from within the nodules at high speed. The spikes seldom miss their intended target, and once they hit, a jet of Tibbanide, the most toxic poison known to man, quickly paralyses or even kills the victim.

The Lux collects rainwater by absorbing it through it's skin, stores it in sacs beneath the skin, and then releases it out of it's skin when the Lux needs hydrating.

It's strange appearance and sinister abilities have caused some humans throughout the centuries, to attack the Lux out of fear and ignorance, but know you know that this odd little bug is a friend and needs respecting, not fearing.

I remember this one time, I got lost in the woods looking for the blair witch, and if it wasn't for me stumbling across a Lux I don't think I'd ever have made it back.
