Apple store accused of 'racial profiling' after kicking out black teenagers...
An Apple store in Melbourne has been accused of racial profiling after a staff member asked a group of black teenagers to leave the premises because employees were worried the students would "steal something." In a video filmed by one of the boys involved, an Apple employee can be heard telling the teens "these guys are just a bit worried about your presence in our store". He said: "They're just worried you might steal something," to which one of the teenagers responds "Whoa, why would we steal something?" 15-year-old Ese, told Mashable: "It was just really offensive when he said 'we are afraid you are going to steal something. It was shocking; it was racism. "He didn’t even give us a chance." Following the incident, the boys who are reportedly between the ages of 15 and 16, went back to the store with their school principal to demand an apology, which they got. However, it has done nothing to quell the accusations of racial profiling made against Apple. http://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews...BmUFgZ#image=2 |
Ahh yes, another example of not knowing the full story, which will of course be labelled at 'racism!!!!!' by the media.

This is unbelievable. What utter knobheads. Apple is rotten to the core.

In all fairness, it's not Apple's fault, it's the idiots working in that store.
|
In all fairness, they look like nasty hoodlums.

:joker: the honesty of the guy though could he not have said they had to evacuate the store due to a gas leak or something |
He should've just said "I don't like the look of those hoods".

all items have alarms They must have viewed them as a Danger. Down Under is in the Past sadly. |
I got stopped leaving tesco a few days ago. I hadn't bought anything and I was wearing a backpack, and the security guy stopped me (by grabbing hold of my bag!) and then asked me outright if I'd stolen anything lol. I know I'm not black or anything so it's different (in that I know it wasn't racially motivated in my case), but it's a pretty humiliating thing to happen, especially for the boys in the video since they're so young. I think if they're going to search anyone, or kick people out their store, then they should AT LEAST have some evidence to back up their suspicions.
