International Mens Day shut down by feminists at York university
A petition was signed by 200 feminists to stop the event which is to highlight mens health issues,Mental health, high suicide rates, crime violence, family relationships and under reprisentation of men in academic roles.
Since then a petition has been signed by almost 1000 people to hold the event as planned. So apparently in this university feminism is'nt actually about equality at all. York celebrated a whole week for womens rights in the past. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england...shire-34857143 |
Shameful

Most feminists these days don't wany equality, they want men to be treated worse than them and for woman to be treated better than everyone else.

Yep - shameful. But God help us all when 'The Truth' finds out.

well then they aren't really feminists at all

How does anyone know the 200 signatories were Women? It was a female student which called for the reinstatement...
It's simply a misguided equality exercise. |
Typical women
|
they should have distracted them with scented candles and new cushions
that would have bought them enough time to hold the event |
I would of told them to **** off and rip the petition up in front of them

I wrote a rather long post on here a few months ago about how I think the word "feminism" has effectively been hijacked by a toxic subgroup (NOT a small one, a rather large one) with a different agenda and that the term is all but useless now for anyone who seeks equality. I'm not going to repost because I can't be arsed, but it's on here somewhere. In short, though, groups truly seeking equality need to rebrand and stop clinging to their "precious" labels like limpets if they actually want to be taken seriously as individuals seeking individual equality. Feminism may once have been about equality but it is not any longer, and hasn't been for over a decade, regardless of which dictionary definitions are thrown around. |

Disgusting. So they're saying it "amplifies existing, structurally imposed, inequalities." This is generic statement, which granted has a progressive sentiment, but beyond that has no real meaning in the context of what the occasion was intended for. "The intention was to draw attention to some of the issues men tell us they encounter, and to highlight mental health and welfare support which we know men are sometimes reluctant to access." Even the most ardent campaigners for equality must be able to recognise that even if equality is their end goal, it's not the reality of the world we're CURRENTLY living in. They had the choice of accepting that and doing something to help men who are facing very real problems, or ignore it in order to push an ideology. That's not to say there isn't merit behind the ideology but to pursue it with tunnel vision like this isn't the way to go.
