Question for anyone who has a tattoo
Ok so this might seem like a weird question, but first of all i'll explain that I suffer from anxiety and because of this, I like to know exactly how things are going to go before I do something.
So, I want a tattoo but I need to know what actually happens when you enter the tattoo shop. Do you just walk up to the desk and say "Hi, I would like a tattoo please." ? I'm guessing you have to fill in some sort of form as well. Will I have to show ID? Do I just show them what tattoo I want? Basically I just want to know every detail of what will happen when I enter the shop  |
If you already have a copy of your tattoo then take it to the desk and tell them where you want it and they will let you know whether there is space or you need to get booked in, then you fill out a form and they may ask for ID while you do this they will get everything sorted and then they will ask you to go in another room and you sit on the seat and they will transfer the out line on to that part of the body (if its your arm they may have to shave it abit) then they also put this liquid type thing on your arm with cotton balls (I believe it's anaesthetic) then they will start doing the tattoo with the out line first and then the colour after its all finished they will put cling film on your arm and tell you to leave it on for a few hours.
Remember don't move and Bepathem is the best thing to stop it scabbing |
I have never been asked to fill a form in and I have had all mine done at different places
Never been asked for ID either..even with my first when I had just turned 18 And yeah..just ask for what you want. I piss people off at this stage because I change my mind about 20 times and eventually the artist gets annoyed and says to just come back over when I have actually picked something :joker: |

Nope, they just asked stuff like I wasn't under the influence of alcohol or drugs and such, then got me to sign a disclaimer thing that I never read but assume says I wont sue if they mess up :S
|
I didn't fill a form for mine, but they do ask for ID (well my place did anyway)

They also gave me some leaflet thing with how to look after your tattoo, and what could go wrong/side effects and things like that.
|
They just told me to put bepathem on 3 times a day but never use vaseline as it wears out the colour
|
I was advised 'preparation H'
But I didnt use anything on any of them (bar one application of the cream for my first) Found they healed pretty well on their own and barely even scabbed tbh |
I had a big one on my forearm so I didn't want it scabbing and it healed so quick
|
Just had one done in January, I went into the tattoo place and just asked if I needed to make an appointment, which I did, The girl explained who wud b doing it, how long it wud take etc etc. very helpful as well.

bepanthen and cling film worked a treat on mine
|
I can't actually remember what happens, but I know I still love my tattoo

thanks so much, you were all really helpful  i tend to stress about things if it's something new to me, so it's good to know exactly what to do/what to expect
