Solo careers

It's a time honoured tradition when a pop group splits up that some (or all) of its former members will go on to have solo careers or form splinter groups... do you have any favourites; are there any you think are actually better than the groups they came from?

Ultimately no, even the most successful solo artists are never as successful as the groups they came from - Only Diana Ross and Beyoncé are the obvious examples of people who were better than their groups, musically and commercially

Samm 28-11-2015 08:06 PM

No, none are better then the original group, personally I like Geri's from the spice girls solo career the best.

Beyonce obviously

Arguably JT too

But yes most solo artists from bands aren't usually successful because they achieved their success with a band not solo

Look At Me's a fave

Mark Owen from Take That. I think Take That are good and they have some great songs, but I much prefer Mark's solo stuff. Robbie too.

Am I the only one who thinks JT solo is better than N Sync?

I agree with Bey and Robbie being better than their respective groups too (even if I love DC and their classics)

King Gizzard 28-11-2015 09:43 PM

Eminem
Fluer

Ryan57 29-11-2015 12:20 AM

Michael Jackson is the most obvious and successful one. George Michael is another. Phil Collins also to a degree.
