Does Simon need a hearing aid?

Seriously he excuses Louisa for screeching through Justin Bieber, and puts her 2nd best in that round, yet Lauren gives out a very different to her usual style with Firestone and sings it really well yet him and his sycophants go onto bash her performance.

And he wonders why the show has lost ratings when he can't even judge who's in tune and who's not, plus he never lets the winner succeed anyway.

On a positive note I feel that it was strongest week of this series.

Lol @ you two

I haven't actually been watching this series of X Factor but I saw the thread title and wanted to chime in anyway lol. Because I don't think Simon has ever really cared what the contestants sound like. I think when he's watching performances he doesn't hear singing, he sees £££ signs. There's a few reasons why I stopped watching TXF, but one of the things that put me off was the way the judges always seemed to push certain acts (and slate others), regardless of their performances, based on their commercial viability. I think it's really patronising to the audience. Obviously I don't know if that fits well with the example you're talking about though Mock, more of a general thing.

Tbh everything that you're saying is happening here, Louisa is clearly more marketable than Lauren if you watched the show, but sounded significantly weaker than her on the night.

The X Factor is a very shallow show, especially the UK version, but I used to enjoy it more when they could hold a note and perform, that doesn't seem to be the case anymore sadly.

It really is. It's quite sad when you think how much talent is actually out there as well, go to any open mic night etc. But a lot of singers/musicians would never go on a show like TXF because they know they'd have to compromise who they are to get through the process. Not being able to write their own material for example. TXF just want puppets they can use to produce a TV show, but they don't really care what happens after that, which is why the judges always say things like 'you're a ready made pop-star' and rubbish like that, because they don't want to nurture and develop talent, they want it there on a plate. But look at the most successful music artists in history, it doesn't work like that. Dressing them up, putting them on a flashy stage, teaching them fancy dance moves, and getting them to sing covers is great for Saturday night TV, but it's not likely to get the best out of the contestants musically or creatively, which is a shame for them if that's what they're after, rather than just 5 minutes of fame.

Yep 100% Simon has lost the plot, I thought Lauren was really good, Che could learn a lot from her. Though I do think Louisa had improved, Simon clearly wants her to get to the final.

He thought that shout off was the best sing-off ever.

Hearing aid will be delivered to his door shortly.
