Manhunt underway after man is shot dead outside hotel in Essex...
 

A manhunt is now underway after a man was shot dead outside a hotel in broad daylight this morning.

The man, believed to be in his 20s, was killed after shots were fired in the car park of the Marriott Hotel in Waltham Abbey, Essex.

Police were called just before 9.50am after a man was seen with a gun.

After arriving at the scene, police found a man injured.

Despite the work of medics, he was alter declared dead at the scene.

Essex Police have now launched a manhunt for the attacker and have said they do not believe there is a threat to other members of the public or a link to terrorise.

Chief Superintendent Luke Collison said: "Essex Police has mobilised a number of officers including armed units in response to this incident.

"At this time there is no evidence to suggest that there is any threat to the wider public or any link to terrorism.

"We will be constantly reassessing the information we receive as the investigation progresses to ensure that the safety of the public remains paramount.

It is just one more of those 'balloons' in the analogy I wrote about all that time ago Ammi. Just one more individual report of a firearm murder separated from all the others by time and space, yet if ALL these increasingly more blatant, and increasingly more frequent shootings were gathered together in one place, the results - the full picture - would be alarming.

I have always maintained that whatever becomes routine practice in the USA eventually becomes so over here, and this is corroboration of that.

It also corroborates that no amount of legislation will deter the criminally disposed from possessing or using guns.

Only draconian punishment can achieve that, and life sentences for pre-meditated murder should be mandatory with 'Life' MEANING 'Life'.
