Independence Day 2
 

OK so I thought I would really hate this, but I saw a trailer for it today and it totally gave me a massive dose of nostalgia :joker:. The president's "our independence day" playing ominously over the trailer and then cutting off... A weathered looking Geoff Goldblum ("it's definitely bigger than the last one"... Oh Geoff :hehe: ) and Bill Pullman. There's even a Will Smith cut'n'paste.

It will clearly be nonsensical, but then, so was the first one. I am tentatively getting hype...

Is Will Smith in this one? If not I'm not interested

You are interested Neeve, they've replaced him with his son (stepson?) and so it's just presactly the same. Like, I'm pretty sure they've made him a younger version of the exact same character. It was probably written for Smith and then they just changed a few scenes when he turned it down.

Not his actual son, mind, his son in the movie. If Jaden Smith was in it then no one should ever watch it.

Plus everyone knows that Geoff Goldblum and his Jew dad were the best part of the original...

I was just about to say I'm definitely not watching if Jaden Smith is in it :laugh:

Yeah, the kid that Will Smith keeps insisting on making films with even though they are always completely awful.

Thats one committed dad. "Sure son, I've only spent 3 decades building a great career and reputation, but we should totally make awful films together and tarnish it..."

That's probably why he's not in this.

Quite liked the first one and this looks ok too.

Hope we get more of a sense of humanity vs aliens rather than aliens vs United States this time though.

It should be a fun movie for the summer, hopefully I'll get a chance to go and watch it. :)

Looks quite good actually. The first one was so cheesy (and I actually think Will Smith was the worst thing about that movie) but this could be really good
