Will's Big Fat Journey to losing weight (Day 4)
Why I want to lose weight! I'm sick of being overweight, like i'm not like fat but just overweight a bit. I honesty hate being this size, it's so depressing and un motivational. Tonight has made me realise that I want to lose some weight, 2 stone max though. I saw some stretch marks today and I honesty wanted to die, literally. So It's starts now, well it started yesterday as I didn't eat that much. |
Slay! I hope you reach your goal!
Remember nothing tastes as good as being skinny feels! |

The prospects of losing some weight by next week is exciting.
NOTE: I don't eat that much at X Mas, so there's no worry there. |
Starting a diet five days before Christmas is a... unique approach but good luck :clap1:

TBH I dont eat loads at X Mas, like I'm having some sort of pasta dish anyway. |
Good look with this but have you thought about how you're going to do it so that you can drop a couple of stone and keep that couple of stone off? If you just cut right back on food with no idea of calorie loss, your weight will either yoyo back and forth or you will just give in eventually.
Even though its only a little weight you want to lose, if you put your body into starvation mode you can knock your metabolism off hilter and that can cause all sorts of weight issues in the future. A fitbit is fantastic because it shows you calories in versus calories out and works as a great daily guideline. You can decide how much you want to lose and how slowly or quickly you want to lose it and you can join a forum group where you will become an expert in your own body weight. My husband lost 42lbs early this year and looks great and with this little device he found it really easy to keep his weight off without losing more than he wanted to. Make it a lifestyle change and not a silly binge diet that's doomed to fail in the long run. |
..what age are you Will, 14/15/16yrs I think..?...I think it's an age when we all feel so insecure in ourselves and very self conscious, especially of our physical appearance...and as our body goes through changes, things like a bit of excess weight can build as well but it's just a temporary thing...it's always good to eat healthy at any age and also to exercise etc but I think, thinking 'dieting' as such isn't really necessary for you atm and I have to say that I'm not a believer in diets anyway...dieting 'deprives' and it's not good to deprive the body, but just have the more unhealthy stuff as treats and occasionally/small amounts etc...not every day things, if that's what they are now...your weight will find it's comfortable balance anyway, if you're eating healthily and exercising... don't think dieting, think of adding the good/healthy stuff more and the bad/unhealthy stuff a little less, etc../you'll be right...

Good advice there you are a bit young to be dieting Will as your body will change as you mature. Exercise will help you shed pounds without you needing to change your diet too much, if you can incorporate a 30 minute fast walk where you get out of breath into your day you will notice a difference within weeks, not sure if you get the bus to college but if you do you could choose a further away stop to get on and off so you get the walk into your day? |
You are too young to diet, everything in moderation and exercise more.
|
I lost a stone since the start of the year by becoming a vegetarian and walking the dogs every day so maybe you could do that X
|
Ah Will good luck :clap1: Remember to stay healthy though. People throw around the word dieting so it might seem like an everyday thing, but it shouldn't be underestimated that changing your body is actually a huge undertaking (which is why quick-fixes are so tempting) but not eating will do your body a lot of harm (especially at your age as others have said). Take up some hobbies like swimming/running, or join a squash club or something, you'll still be able to eat and you'll feel so great for doing it. You might not see huge results straight away (but they will come), and think about the long term, there's no rush, and changing to a generally healthier lifestyle will get you to where you want to be weight wise and also set you up for a much better/healthier future. Good luck

The only way for me to shed the weight is just starve myself. I don't drink so I can't cut out booze.
I can cut out chocolate but that's my only food vice. Oops, and apart from bread. That is a big no-no apparently. But like the OP, I am sick of buying 38 inch waist jeans. Normally I am 34 inch waist. |
Being a fella you are at an advantage, if you do a bit of weight training and build a bit of muscle mass that will eat your calories for you and your metabolic rate will increase, you'll look leaner and fitter :)
Don't overdo it though. |

Here they are, I've think I have already lost some weight as I kind of started like on Friday. I went for a massive 4 mile walk yesterday with my mum.

you can lose 10 pounds a month easy if you diet and work out. so only 4 months. depends how much you gain from christmas dinner and new years drinks... |
