I think that increasing tax on alcohol would work better than a minimum price if this is the route Scotland wants to go down.. but the EU should not be dictating what they can or cannot do.

The Bloke giving the Whiskey in a class

[The case now returns to Scotland's Court of Session for a ruling in the new year
but the losing side can then appeal to the UK Supreme Court.]

Why not? They dictate to everyone else, why should Scotland be exempt?

The only real way to stop the Scots drinking too much would be mass extermination

and frankly I see that as a step too far

Well,If we're gonna be in the EU we must abide by all their laws.....

I am massively in favour of a large alcohol tax. I would apply it on all shop-bought alcohol, exempt bars / pubs etc. as they struggle already...

But yeah... "Drink at home" booze I'd happily see taxed at 100% of value.

The Scots would just buy it cheap from England. Stupid unworkable scheme anyway

Kizzy 24-12-2015 09:33 AM

What's the point of devolution if they're going to be forced into line with the rest of the UK anyway?
