Homework Help, PLEASE!

I have this very tricky maths homework and I would appreciate it if people could help me out.

I have to find the number directly below 100 in the pyramid aswell as finding the numeber below 1000 without writing it out.

Here is the pyramid :-

It's a long time since I went to school!:conf:

I'm sure that someone will be able to give you the theory behind the answers Graeme. In the meantime, I've worked out a couple of patterns that might help you.

The last digit on every line is equal to that line number squared ie line 2 ends with the number 4, line 5 ends with the number 25.

You should therefore be able to work out what line numbers 100 and 1000 are on.

The number directly below another is always the line number of the first no. multiplied by 2 plus the first number ie 3 is on line 2 therefore the number below it is 2(line no) x 2 + 3(first no) = 7. (I think!)

Hopefully (for your sake) in the time it's taken me to type this in, someone else will have posted the answer for you!!!!!!:laugh:

Good luck:thumbs:

I am afraid I would have to resort to cheating and write the whole thing out ....then I would make mistakes along the way.
I am very IMPRESSED with Feebs findings on the problem, but they help me about as much as they have helped you. My only comfort to you Graeme is that it is Easter soon and you will get lots of eggs.
Maybe enought o pile up into a pyrmid !
Hope someone with a few more brains than me can help you out

Good Luck !

Hope you managed to work it out Graeme. Sorree no good asking me, maths never was my strong point.

When I add anything up, if I get the same answer twice then thats got to be right.:thumbs:

Feebs - well done 10 out of 10 for effort.:hello::hello:

I hate that kind of pointless maths homework!
So annoying!
Like algebra, whats the point of that?! Like Im gonna go into a shop 1 day & say

"Hmmm I think 2day I'll add up my purchases with letters instead of numbers, wouldnt that be fun!"

Sumhow I ended up inthe top set for maths but I failed my moc, then got a privae tutor and ended up with a B! I wish I could have got a private tutor for all my subjets!

Wot year R U in Graeme?

Graeme 05-04-2003 04:17 PM

I'm in my first year, year 7.
