Racism or Ignorance

I am Indian and to be honest it irks me to death when policitians and ignorant public/media in general run a sprint to proclaim anything and everything as racist.

I can imagine how a white person would be getting frustrated to death by the fact that they cannot express themselves without being in the eternal danger of having their lives hijacked and careers truncated if they express themselves from the bottom of their hearts.Think about it - this kind of frustration plays right into the hands of the likes of BNP !!

the problem is the way Jade expressed her dislike for Shilpa is crass and crude and is symptomatic of the chav culture in UK which is quite prevelant.she is a low life and you look at her pickpocket mother and it is not hard to imagine why- frankly you could hate her even if you were blind :dazzler:

Shilpa is a stuck up bitch who has spent the 31 yrs of her life in her mother's womb with a thumb in her mouth and has no clue on how to behave in an ethnically diverse group. She is grand, prim, slushy and controlling and to be honest would do my head in too - just that i would not express myself with a bit more class and eloquence

Thank you!

Everyone has personal views, but when your at work you should know better.

I was at drama school for years and am aware you go on training courses about public acceptable behaviour, media training etc

I dont do drama anymore and work in the public sector and have to abide by the equal opps policy and diveristy policy.

What im trying to say is that they know better, but the alocohol is bringing the real person out.

If i had called someone Ahmed Poppadom @ work i would be up for gross misconduct and me saying i was ignorant wouldnt help a bit

So, perhaps, Shipa doesnt know how to behave in the group but they are not making it easy by they behaviour towards her - picking on her all the time. She is not behaving grand or prim but just - WELL - as that was how most Asian women are brought up to be. I came to UK 20 years ago - and i remember being uncomfortable with loud brash people especially women. I was shocked to see so much disrespect amongst young people. The humour is different, conversation topic is different. I am settled well now but if i were to be stuck with Jade, Jo and Danielle, i would feel out of place. I have made many good caucasian friends in UK and they are same brainwave asme. I do also have friends like Jade, Jo & Danielle which i am polite to but that's all. My children are more English like their dad as they wree born and educated here in UK - but my oldest were appalled at the 3 girls' attituede- all that shouting, face cringing, swearing, backstabbing and nastiness when she watched the programee on Friday and Saturday.

I disagree completely

i am an Indian and i would never behave the way - you see that is the point - it has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with being asian or caucasian - if shilpa had been fortunate enough to spend at least a part of her 31 yrs in say even a girls hostel or outside the protection of her family and servants she would have learnt what i am sure she has learnt through this episode - in particular - when to open your mouth - what to say - who to speak to - who to avoid etc....

also dont know what you know about Shilpa or not but look up any indian channel and you will notice that Shilpa is at best a class D figure for now - with a career on the wane - she was never a superstar anyways - and i am sure had it been a more eloquent and well travelled indian woman like say sushmita sen/pooja bhat/pooja bedi/yanan gupta - things would have never come to this point - they would have known how to deal with the pooh of Jade/Danielle and Jo - it is all about attitude and shilpa is crap at that

I didn't know who Shilpa was before Big Brother so I can only go on what I've seen in this series and I'm impressed. She's carried herself well.

I dont think ignorance even comes into this. Ignorance can be applied to every little thing we do every minute of the day. Everyone is ignorant to something.

Discrimination is founded on ignorance, so they are one and the same in this case.
