So C5 booked and paid a known homophobe?

Booked him

paid him

broadcast him

(Homophobic hate crime is on the rise)

How do you feel about C5 now?

Pete. 09-01-2016 05:34 PM

They've got publicity because of him which was their aim (and if that failed they would have ejected him for more ratings)

Vicky. 09-01-2016 05:34 PM

They booked him FOR the controversy, and as usual they got what they wanted..the headlines and people frothing at the mouth for various reasons.

The whole task I honestly think only happened as he had not been homophobic enough for their liking inside the house, so they had to stir it to force it.

Bit of a disgrace really.

armand.kay 09-01-2016 05:37 PM

Bit of a double standard seeing as they ejected Tila who had a history of mental illness.

MrWong 09-01-2016 05:38 PM

Yes they did. ****ers aren't they?

lookintomyeyes 09-01-2016 05:39 PM

Well just imagine if all the housemates were like David Gest, what a boring show it would be Zzzzzz

Winston was needed more than ever for this series, as from the looks of things so far - too many people are getting along with each other and that will lose ratings and Endemol won't want that, so it is of no surprise that they made a meal of Winston's views on Gay people as it will obviously outrage people and create grate drama which it did

MB. 09-01-2016 05:39 PM

They've casted risky, controversial and ratings-grabbing housemates for years (pretty much ever since they started... Kerry Katona failed the previous year's psych test). No need to start complaining now just because it was someone you liked

bots 09-01-2016 05:42 PM

i didn't like Winston, and I haven't seen many who did. All i have seen is rightful outrage at the producers and emma's using it for the shows gain

Emma used it for her own gain, thats what pisses me off

It's not the first time they've booked someone they knew would cause friction. It's kind of what they do.

yes but racism and homophobia is dangerous and by putting them on a national station yo8 perhaps normalise it and make those who are racist or homophobic think its ok?

jet 09-01-2016 05:51 PM

He accepted the booking and he took the money. He could have taken the opportunity to explain his views without being offensive but he didn't. He and he alone is responsible for what came out of his mouth.

He agreed that he said gay couples adopting children was child abuse.
He told Rylan he was a great presenter despite being gay.
He said how he wore gay Christopher's vest as if it was a wonderful thing to do (and I loved Rylan telling him you can't catch gay from a vest).

If BB wanted to stitch him up, I'm sure they didn't expect him to deliver so brilliantly. How could they know the man was such a fool.

They are tragic for getting him in for shock value at the expense of a community that are offended by his remarks.

better to have people speak their minds in public than to speak in secret.

Yes but on TV it has a powerful effect in terms of normalising views

Shaun 09-01-2016 06:38 PM

Opportunist, classless and desperate. Really.

King Gizzard 09-01-2016 06:38 PM

It's a joke they put him in

They're as much to blame as he is

Of course they can, and do. There are always people who enjoy those who make offensive remarks. Look at how much sympathy poor old Winston is getting because he was called out big time. See? It takes all sorts. :hehe:

YEah they can but if they are dinosaurs then they are called as such.

No one is telling anyone they cant speak but if they cant express themselves without causing offense then that's an issue they need to address.

well they kind of are if theyre saying its offensive and we don't want to hear it. I agree hes an ass and to say gays shouldn't adopt is a ridiculous thing but free speech means even idiots can say what they want and if people don't like it they can say so. In the end hes just exposing an antiquated viewpoint for what it is.

Yes, how dare he show his face in public after daring to have an opinion. He should flee to a monastery and never darken the world again.

Is this earth? I haven't woken up in another galaxy have I?

Offence is taken, not given.

Calderyon 09-01-2016 07:39 PM

Thatīs C5 for you. They have done it for for years in CBB and at this point, i donīt think there is a level low enough for them to not stoop into. (On getting hugely controversial housemates for example)

Theyīll do absolute anything and everything for CBB to get publicity and media interest. It really isnīt pretty.

Itīs essentially a Daily Star of TV channels.
