Controversially I also would not immediately tell my family and friends the if I'd won a mammoth jackpot, either. I would wait 6 months - 1 year after I had won to get used to the money (understand investments better, get pro financial planning advice etc). Then I would wait 3 months after there was a modest jackpot or the raffle eg £1m jackpot (or scratchcard) and pretend I've won that , telling family I'm remaining anonymous. So that I could buy luxury items without family getting suspicious and not having them asking for monster handouts. |
