Matt Groening to create new animated series for Netflix

Netflix is teaming with the co-creator of one of the most iconic broadcast animated comedy series. I’ve learned that the Internet network is in talks with The Simpsons co-creator/executive producer Matt Groening for a new animated series. Details about the project, which Groening will create and write, are being kept under wraps.

Netflix has been gradually expanding its animated series portfolio, which includes BoJack Horseman, F Is for Family and the upcoming Dr. Seuss’ Green Eggs and Ham.

Groening continues as executive producer on Fox’s The Simpsons, now in its 27th season. He also created and executive produced offshoot Futurama.
