Former EastEnders star John Partridge is appearing on Celebrity Big Brother to pay for his mum’s medical bills as she suffers from Alzheimer’s.

The 44-year-old actor admitted he had only signed up for the Channel 5 show because of the high cost of looking after his beloved mother Bridget, 80.

Speaking shortly before he entered the house, he said: “My mum has Alzheimer ’s, I pay for her care and it is expensive.

"The honest answer is I’m here to pay her bill.
