Too fat to work couple on so much money in benefits it's crazy
 

Don't shoot me but I am reeling these figures off the top of my head after reading an article about a couple who are deemed too fat to work.

I mean she is about 22 stone (still not too fat to work in my book), and he is 26 stone (still not too fat to work). But both are classed as 'disabled'. Not my definition of disabled.

Anway, benefits wise as a couple they get around £280 per week. On top of that he gets another disability benefit of about £160 per week. And his wife who is disabled also bags £94 per week as HIS carer.:shocked::shocked:

That makes a total of £534 in benefits PER week. Now get this, if you're a man or woman on the dole, you only get £73 per week in benefits. A couple I assume would be double that (doh). Still a long way short of £534.

What I don't get is WHY someone who is deemed disabled should get sheds loads more money when they're supposed to be more or less housebound.

I mean £280 per week is enough money to live on, so why therefore does he get another £160???:shrug:

I forgot to mention, HE also has a nurse who comes in every day and washes him. paid again by the tax payer.

So what is the wife doing as HIS carer, then? Isn't that her job? But oh I forgot, she's disabled too.

I would think the fact that he has a nurse come in everyday more or less shows he is disabled and not fit for work.
The fact that this pair are labelled too fat to work doesn't mean that they don't have other underlying problems with their health.
As long as the wife can care for him for about 5 hours a day/night then she can claim cares allowance, not sure exactly what the care has to be, but perhaps she can manage it with her disability:shrug:
Does seem a lot, but then God forbid if anyone tried to trim down these benefits.

Starve them until they're classed as fit to work
