Kids to pick from 25 genders...

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...-intersex.html

What on earth is this rubbish? Since when has 'tomboy' been a gender? And how the hell can you identify as 'all of the genders'?!

Sorry, there is being progressive, then there is being downright stupid. This unfortunately falls into the latter category. A simple male/female and maybe an 'unknown' option would surely suffice?

Niamh. 18-02-2016 09:29 AM

Oh ffs

Vicky. 18-02-2016 09:31 AM

This is for 13 year olds too, who will already be confused as **** about life in general. having to then decide if you are a demi-boy or whatever...well we are pretty much just going to create as generation of confused young adults D:

Niamh. 18-02-2016 09:31 AM

Yeah big time ^

Crimson Dynamo 18-02-2016 09:38 AM

ridiculous nonsense

bots 18-02-2016 09:39 AM

After the long list, there is an Others, please state option :joker:

Ninastar 18-02-2016 09:45 AM

I think it's probably just being over exaggerated for views but this wouldn't surprise me if it were true.

lostalex 18-02-2016 09:58 AM

who cares, it doesn't really effect anyone that is a cis gender, so why do you care? i don't give a **** what gender other people identify as.

they are mostly confused because of ignorant adults that think this is still the 1950's.

Yeah...of course, like always

Sorry but how on earth is 'tomboy' a gender? A tomboy is a female. So surely this would make gender female? Personality traits (such as playing with boys more than girls) does not change your gender?

I just cannot get my head round most of this nonsense.

If this makes me ignorant, I can live with that tbh.

sex and gender are not the same thing. sex is the physical bits, gender is an identity in your mind.

you are thinking purely in terms of sex.

Cal. 18-02-2016 10:15 AM

There should me male, female and unknown/other. There's no reason to have all these stupid categories.

Cherie 18-02-2016 10:20 AM

What annoys me about this is the waste of money when we are in a period of austerity, if they want this information they should make it part of the census, though what business it is what people identify as is anyone's guess, there should also be a "don't want to say option"

Even so, what need is there for 25 different genders? For what purpose would you need to call yourself a Tomboy rather than a girl?

really? you are worried about the cost of extra ink? i think there are plenty of other wasteful programs in the government to worry about.

Crimson Dynamo 18-02-2016 10:21 AM

what is the reason for asking a 13 year old about this?

if they want to know ask their parents

Kizzy 18-02-2016 10:23 AM

Won't this have a bad effect on those girls who do identify as tomboys and the equivalent label for boys, wow anything that is even slightly out of the norm is identified for future reference from a very early age. Welcome to conditioning.
Spoiler:
(check the year :/)

Yes Jack Monroe is a one off

she was on Ch4HD news the other week saying she was Raped
as a boy and as a girl.

Not so typical complex

Its an extremely holistic approach to gender but really unnecessary. Most of these terms kinda just describe a person's 'opinion' on gender i.e. your 'concrete gender' is not "gender fluid" but you can believe that gender is fluid - if that makes sense? - and would categorise you probably under "bi-gender" if you believed your own gender is fluid.

In my opinion: male, female and bi-gender male (male who is sometimes female)/bi-gender female (female who is sometimes male) cover gender categories. If you are trans - you would consider yourself as newly male or newly female whichever the case - I see "transgender" as more of a process.

Just as with sexuality: straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual. All the other fancy terms (e.g. asexual, demisexual, pansexual) just describe 'opinions/feelings' of sexuality... If youre "asexual" you dont experience sexual desire, but if youre only romantically interested in/drawn to the opposite sex then you are still straight. "Demisexuals" are bisexual people that focus on an emotional bond, if they tell me 'need an emotional bond but only interested in the same sex' then they are gay. "Pansexuals" are bisexual people that have no preference between males, females, bi-gender males and bi-gender females, in my opinion.

I LOVE THESE TOPICS.

I think the suicide rate among trans youth is enough of a reason to put some extra funding into it. I think it might save a few lives which makes it worth it.

And you know funding is going to be directed in this area how?

user104658 18-02-2016 10:28 AM

I'm interfemale.

Cuz I'm really inter females.

HEE HEE HEE HEE hee hee he h...

OK anyway I think it's important to let young people know about transgender / fluid gender issues so they don't feel like they have to conform to male / female stereotypes but, come on, seriously, there are far too many options here and half of them as far as I can tell mean the same things...
