looks like a sacrificial lamb prior to the report being published, this stinks to high heaven. Shameful. I hope he sues.

Wow I don't know what to think, it will be hard for him to exonerate himself given the girl committed suicide. On a side note why are all these ageing broadcasters allowed to continue working, they have had their time, they need to move over and give others an opportunity. Is that a bit ageist of me D:

Alls tony did was disagree with an account the bbc said happened in 1971

its beyond pathetic

So for decades the BBC did ****-all and suddenly, they sack Tony Blackburn on a whim and on the flimsiest of evidence, as far as I can see. The Corporation has done itself quite a lot of damage today, I think.

Yep, innocent until proven guilty for those still among the living. Its a kangaroo court

Tony Blackburn said the BBC has “hung me out to dry” and repeated his threat to sue the corportion.

In a new statement he said:

“I have listened to what has been said by Tony Hall and others today in connection with the publication of the Dame Janet Smith Report.

“I repeat what I told Dame Janet when I voluntary gave evidence to assist her and the BBC. What I said in my earlier statement regarding the alleged meetings with Brian Neill QC and Bill Cotton Junior 45 years ago still stands.

“Given Dame Janet Smith’s concerns of a culture of fear in coming forward at the BBC, the fact that I have been scapegoated for giving my honest account and best recollections of those events 45 years ago - which I felt was a whitewash - what whistleblower at the BBC would ever come forward when they see the way they have hung me out to dry.

“Sadly today’s news agenda should have been about the survivors of abuse carried out within the BBC but, by sacking me, they have managed to take the focus off those who have suffered so much.

“My lawyers are now considering all statements made by the BBC about me today and we will be taking action.”

well something isn't right with this

but i can't really give my opinion on this

not until we know more

smudgie 25-02-2016 01:58 PM

Hmmm, not sure what to think.
Tony Hall has said he isn't being sacked for what allegedly went on years ago with the young girl, but more to do with him denying any knowledge of two separate and different meetings with totally different people, one of them being a QC.
Dame Janet is less than impressed with his version as well.
I would have told the old fella it was time for him to retire. Given him the chance to resign before he was pushed maybe:shrug:

In reality I gave no issue with older people working but with the beeb it does seem to be jobs for the boys which irritates me, the other issue is the amount they are paid.
