Men bathing with their daughters

OK this post just came up on FB and its made me a bit pissed off tbh. Apparently in a lot of peoples eyes it is wrong for a bloke to take a bath with his young daughter, or to wash her...so bathing their daughter completely is out of the question nevermind actually being in the bath. The issue appears to be him washing her arse and other parts...

I find this completely ridiculous. Why should this be seen as anything sexual? I bath with Skye (as she goes mental if we try to put her in alone) and with James (as tbh he thinks he is a fish and its easier to keep his head out of the water when I'm actually in there  ) and not once have I EVER thought anyone could possibly see it as anything more than what it is...a parent washing her kids.

Is this really the stage we are at now where paedo is screamed when a father takes care of his kid? I can't get my head round it at all and this may well be a pointless thread but I had to let it out. Honestly this seems just as stupid as those who think breastfeeding is in someway sexual :S

This world is PC mad

I just saw that article you replied to on FB. Of course there's nothing wrong with a parent bathing with their kids. If there's something wrong with a dad washing his daughters bits then does that mean he can't change her nappy either?

On a side note, posting a picture of it on FB is a bit much......probably did it just for a reaction tbh

I was thinking this, maybe its a plan made up by the fathers of this world to get out of changing nappies

Or maybe not

I just find the whole suggestion ridiculous..completely.

Sorry but who exactly is complaining about this?

Has the gist of it.

Was just a random FB post thing that I usually ignore. But this one got me thinking a bit

Even one person thinking theres anything dodgy about a father washing his child is more than enough D:

The guy posted a picture of himself in the bath with his baby daughter, he's a comedian so presumably has people following him or whatever so some of those people I guess?

I see no harm unless the daughter is 18 !!! it really is so silly,I think it's perfectly acceptable up to a certain age, afterall some fathers have to bring up daughters alone,Jaye bathed Maia up until she was able to bath herself which was about 4/5 I think.

This was going to be my point aswell.Should men not change nappies?I don't have a daughter but i bath my two lads. They get in together.I don't bath with em because obvs there's no room but i see nothing wrong in it be it a boy or a girl.Silly people thinking everyone is a pervert.

lostalex 26-02-2016 12:48 PM

it depends how old the daughter is i think. If she is old enough to use the toilet then she is old enough to wash herself. I'd say potty training is the age you also teach her to wash herself.

If any man is specially WANTING to wash his daughter instead of encouraging and teaching her to do it herself then i would be suspicious.

I'd say if the daughter is not able to wash herself by the age of 3 or 4 then there is something suspicious going on. He can sit on the toilet and direct her what to do without being naked and touching her.

I used to plonk both my girls into the bath with their dad when they were little, he was at work all day, it's excellent bonding time for the girls with their dad, i see nothing wrong with it when they're little.

It stopped when they were around 18 months old, as we couldn't get them all in the bath!

He also did his fair share of nappy changing and bathing, he's taken them swimming on his own, they've even used the mens toilets on occasion (theme parks) because the queues for the ladies is always ridiculous! Obviously they get to an age where it's not appropriate to use the mens loos, but when they're little and bursting to go then they have to go!

There's nothing wrong it, I bathed with my parents.

RichardG 26-02-2016 01:21 PM

Nothing wrong with it but I probably wouldn't post pictures of it online

smudgie 26-02-2016 01:24 PM

OMG..we. Are a family of perverts.

Both our son and daughter loved to jump in the bath with either me or their dad, they decided when to stop, the same as when they started hiding behind the sofa to put their jarmas on. They loved having a bath together as well...until they got the shy factor.
A mother bathing her child, son or daughter is no different to a father doing it.
When our daughter was ill in hospital aged 7 we took it in turns to give her evening bath.

Z 26-02-2016 01:27 PM

The funniest pictures from my childhood are naked bath time pictures with my dad and my cousins when I was little. It's harmless.

Crimson Dynamo 26-02-2016 01:46 PM

So essentially some young people, unmarried and childless said "ew that is gross", themselves obvs forgetting that they bathed with their parents

The story is about silly young people now having a voice via mjedia and nowt else

Soon we will be able to identify the names of people and that comnedien would be able to post the people names and pictures who made such stupid comments

when this happens twitter and fb will calm down an awful lot

She's just a baby, looks maybe 6-9months old

Shaun 26-02-2016 01:52 PM

I cringe whenever I find old photos of myself in the bath with my parents / cousins etc. but it's obviously completely harmless and this is a fuss over nothing.

Crimson Dynamo 26-02-2016 02:06 PM

It was when I got caught bathing with exmrslts mum that things got a little sticky

oh well that's just silly, obviously there is nothing wrong with a father washing his daughter when she's a baby. I think 5 is the age you would start to get concerned.

If the child is able to wash themselves but the father is still wanting to wash them, that would be weird.

lostalex 26-02-2016 02:16 PM

if you guys want a really cringe worthy story, my parents once had me take a bath with my cousin when i was 8 and she was 5. i still remember feeling so uncomfortable. I think somewhere around 4 or 5 all children should be able to wash themselves.

I remember sometimes if we got really dirty at a friends house when i was like 6-8 sometimes the friends parents would just put us in the shower together and we'd of course be filthy with mud and screaming and having a good time, nothing weird with other boys, but adults in the bathroom after 5 is definitely weird. if one of my friends dads was watching us in he shower at that age i would definitely be weirded out by it.

LukeB 26-02-2016 02:17 PM

I never heard of parents bathing with their children but would I go ew that's so wrong no i wouldn't.

Crimson Dynamo 26-02-2016 02:18 PM

i remember being bathed in the kitchen sink

:umm2:
