Chemical found in everything from pacifiers to Condoms may cause cancer

Condoms
Shocker.

[A chemical found in everything from babies' dummies to condoms
may cause cancer, global health chiefs say.
The World Health Organisation has concluded that MBT,
which is used in rubber manufacturing, 'probably causes cancer'.
It says the chemical is in rubber gloves, condoms,
soft playground surfaces made of 'rubber crumb',
medical catheters and car tyres. Other potential sources include rubber insoles for shoes,
air beds, elastic bands, babies' dummies and swimming caps and goggles]

Everything causes cancer in one way or another.

Crimson Dynamo 27-02-2016 04:29 PM

i would never eat condoms so I think i am ok

Shaun 27-02-2016 04:51 PM

Don't knock them 'til you've tried them LT. The banana ones go down nicely with your weetabix.

bots 27-02-2016 04:56 PM

Its not in a digestible form, so I think there are far more serious things to worry about

user104658 27-02-2016 09:13 PM

Hopefully this will put an end to the inhuman practice of using condoms for blowjobs.

Only for the unlucky saps who have to use condoms :smug:.

Denver 27-02-2016 09:30 PM

That is a reason I don't use condoms

Yeah what sort of selfish cow would want her partner to get cancer?

Ammi 28-02-2016 05:29 AM

...pacifiers/dummies shocker..what about the babies as well...

billy123 28-02-2016 06:56 AM

It is a true fact that 100% of people that have ever had cancer have a head So having a head is proven to make you more susceptible to cancer! Also all sufferers of skin cancer are found to be heavy users of skin http://www.sherv.net/cm/emo/sad/very...y-emoticon.gif
Get on those facts Daily Mail.

so true we are more at risk from everyday cleaners, air fresheners, scented candles and diesel fumes according to a report last week, so basically ever part of modern living carries a cancer risk and if that doesn't get you the hardened arteries will!

Crimson Dynamo 28-02-2016 09:04 AM

I did have a Japanese friend who eat condoms, I asked him what they were like and he replied "rubberly"

Kizzy 28-02-2016 09:15 AM

Being made aware of these things helps you to be able to avoid them should you wish to. Just resigning yourself 'oh well everything gives you cancer' is a little defeatist.
It is shocking that this dangerous chemical is in products for babies.
..

"May"
"Probably"
Doesn't sound like much of a conclusion.

And I like how these uninportant bits of information were buried near the end:

"Risks to the public at large from these types of exposures have not been studied"

"the small amounts woven into everyday products were not likely to be harmful"

Daily Mail :joker: They just wanted sex and cancer in the same headline.

It's not defeatist, it's being realistic about the world we live in, so you avoid the condoms and get an STI? Babies are exposed to all sorts of stuff even before birth, this is nothing new.

You have to read beyond the sensational headline to get to the actual story :hehe:

I never suggested avoiding condoms, I would rather the testing of the materials involved were assessed a little closer is all. And maybe questions for the manufacturers or distributors.
How are there so many dangerous products on the market, were there not years ago safety standards and regulatory bodies to protect consumers from inferior products?
