George Kennedy dies...
...91yrs, a good age to reach...
George Kennedy, famous for his roles in Cool Hand Luke and Naked Gun, has died. The 91-year-old actor won an Oscar for his performance in the 1967 hit Cool Hand Luke as the sadistic chain gang prisoner Dragline before going on to star in The Guns of the Magnificent Seven and the Naked Gun series. He passed away on Sunday in Boise, Idaho. George's grandson Cory Schenke confirmed the sad news on Facebook and said the actor had been in hospice care for the last month. His wife Joan died last year and Cory revealed that his grandfather's health had been failing ever since. George's movies also include Spartacus, Lonely Are the Brave, The Sons of Katie Elder, The Dirty Dozen, Earthquake and Death on the Nile. He previously spoke of his pride in his Oscar winning role in Cool Hand Luke, admitting it changed his career. He said: "The marvellous thing about that movie, was that as my part progresses, I changed from a bad guy to a good guy. "The moguls in Hollywood must have said, 'Hey, this fellow can do something besides be a bad guy.'" He recurred on primetime soap Dallas as rancher Carter McKay from 1988-91 and appeared in the reunion telepics Dallas: J.R. Returns (1996) and Dallas: War of the Ewings (1998). Most recently he appeared in the 2014 crime drama remake The Gambler, starring Mark Wahlberg. http://img-s-msn-com.akamaized.net/t...6&q=60&o=f&l=f |
