does the word \"Linux\" mean anything to you?

Im just wondering if anybody else knows what it is and if they "use" it.

Chrizzle 27-01-2007 03:48 PM

I've never heard it :laugh2:

lily. 27-01-2007 03:50 PM

Yes, I know what it is. But, that's because I'm a geek.

It's another OS. It's free, and a lot of ppl prefer it to windows. I haven't ever used it, but lately it's crossed my mind to give it a try.

Lauren 27-01-2007 03:50 PM

I've heard a lot about it, don't use it.

Mainly because of compatibility issues of progs etc.

Sophii3x 27-01-2007 03:50 PM

Is that another name for the moon?

http://www.ubuntu.com/ i use this form of linux, Im just amazed people still rely on windows. theres no viruses or spyware that can touch a linux pc.

lily. 27-01-2007 03:56 PM

Are you thinking of trying it out?

A lot of programmes and plug ins have compatibility issues with Linux/Don't have a linux version.
You can mostly get past this, but I can't be bothered to try and get past something

EDIT: I've heard good things about Ubuntu.

Tanser_Man 28-01-2007 11:21 AM

A crap OS which isn't reliable, used it the once and there was problem after problem regarding software.

Rory 28-01-2007 03:26 PM

I know what it means but I don't use it. Where's that choice?

Red Moon 28-01-2007 04:32 PM

I don't currently use it because I current own a number of Mac's running OS X and a Sun Ultra 5 running Solaris 10. But somewhere in the cupboard there will be a Linux machine.
