It seems that it was pilot error, whether that be through inexperience or something else. It's clear there needs to be more stringent checks on pilots.

Thats nearly the same amount of people that die in car crashes every half an hour.

Two hours of circling?surely it had enough fuel to get to the next nearest airport?

Probably true but i think it's the fear factor.People imagine how terrifying it must be to be trapped inside that little metal fuel filled box hurtling towards the ground.Car crashes are usually a little more unexpected without all that suspence before you die.

smudgie 19-03-2016 03:08 PM

Don't they normally circle the airport to use up the fuel if something isn't working right, like the landing gear.
R.I.P. to all those people aboard. So tragic.

Edit. Oooops, just read it was circling due to bad weather conditions.

It appears due to Strong Winds
that the Plane was trapped.
It caught on Fire seconds before impact

Yes you are right with the fear factor aspect i just always find it strange that nearly 3500 a day die in car crashes without barely being taken note of.
I just find the fixation with things like air crash deaths and terrorism deaths really strange compared to how rare they are.

Airline safety is amazing you have more chance of dying from falling out of bed or being struck by lightning and you are 55 times more likely to die from a TV falling on you than you are from an islamic terrorist attack and yet hundreds of billions of pounds arent spent building better TV stands to combat that menace.

Fear is a powerful tool.

My thoughts exactly Paul. It is totally baffling, and seems on the surface, to be another totally preventable tragic loss of life caused by human pilot error.
