Scariest modern horror film?
 

Obviously this doesn't include the classics so don't go naming The Exorcist or Alien or whatever.

I'm gonna say The Babadook, it really got under my skin. It succeeds in building a sense of dread that so many newer horror films forgo in favour of jump scares and it's honestly so ****ing creepy.

The Strangers or Sinister for me.

Evil Dead (remake)

I need to watch that.

The Conjuring. I seen it at the cinema at like 10 at night, and it was terrifying. I think the hype made it scarier than what it actually was

I literally just got back from seeing that :laugh: It was good, loved seeing Maggie from TWD in it :love: I preferred the first half of the movie

I found Haute Tension pretty creepy too, especially the first 40 minutes or so

Is forror a genre of its own?

I really liked it, it was better than I expected but I do agree the first half is the better half, really creepy.

French horror does tend to be ultra gory

Oh The Descent is a worth a mention too actually

Is that film good? I haven't seen it, but I've heard it's quite similar to Wolf Creek which I enjoyed.
