Commons Offical Halts BBC News Broadcast Live On Air

Commons official halts BBC broadcast during PMQs protest
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-35886336

The report was about a protest that was taking place in the House of Commons regarding the disability cuts. This is insane.

As if she did it on camera as well instead of just talking to the crew behind the camera

Saw this earlier, I found it funny :joker: the way he just ignores her at first looool <3

His reponse should have been something along the lines of "this is news, i'm a news reporter, keep walking."
Isn't the House of Commons a publicly paid for establishment? Meaning that we, the public, are entitled to know what's going on in there?
Plus, the whole protest wouldn't have had half as much public awareness if she hadn't have done this :joker:

totally agree, this was horrific. something youd expect to see in china. the reporters spineless reaction was also horrifying, why didn't he ask why? then carry on regardless? and the fact the bbc didn't even run the story tells you everything. spineless cowardly useless toothless complacent, corrupt, bloated, anti democratic dreadful organization who have been covering up perverts for 40 years

Rules Are Rules

Don't think she realised it was being broadcast live :hee:.

But yeah, like I said on the other thread, this is political news that is quite obviously in the public's interest to be aware of to make full, informed decisions when it comes to who and what they are supporting. For as long as the press is muted (or biased as it so often is), "Democracy" is an absolute sham... uninformed voting is utterly meaningless.

Kizzy 24-03-2016 08:23 AM

I love the usual tory bot response 'it's not allowed', democracy is not allowed in a democracy?....ok.

There were plenty demo's such as stop the war during labours time, that were equally not allowed. Don't blame the tories for this. We either have the commons as a rabble free area where the politics of the nation can be decided by those democratically elected, or we can have anarchy. I know which one I prefer.

I'd love to see this. Let me know when the HoC stops being a jeering, sneering public schoolboy soggy biscuit wankfest, then maybe we can seriously think about a "rabble free area".

Protests are not allowed to be filmed in the House of Commons. No protests, by anyone about anything. It has been like that always so I fail to see why everyone is getting bent out of shape about this. It wasn't allowed under Labour and it isn't allowed now.

the truth 24-03-2016 02:16 PM

he wasn't filming the protestors though, he was merely speaking to camera

An unusual rule.

A well advertised event and better advertised because it wasn't allowed to film.
