will you run for office?

Lot of smart well read people on here

I wonder if any of you will ever run for power, whether its locally with councils, assemblies or as politicians in parliament or mep's?

I honestly believe the one thing to learn from trump mania, is simply this

People do not want to hear political double speak or non speak any more.
They dont want corporate lackeys, they dont want to hear endless fake interviews between tabloid journalists and corrupt politicians

They dont even want politicians pretending they have all the answers. The dont want fake political correct statements that carry no weight. They want real people, real solutions.

I dont think trump is a particularly great candidate, although compared to the others he is a genius of self promotion. Hes an alpha, he stands tall in a smart suit, he uses strong words, the economy will grow, america will be stronger and great again, were going to deal with china, were going to build walls, do amazing trade deals, were going to wipe out isa, etc etc
its not lying, its not factual either , its a kind of positive self prophesising semi-bull****. but it works

people need pep talks they need strength , they need someone to paint a picture of an exciting future, leaders to inspire them to action

anyways I digress

rights for everyone in the west are written in stone now, the argument of the
future will be who else deserves these rights elsewhere and how much are we prepared to do to ensure they get them...the main enemy of all rights will be the corporations. how do we curb their total global takeover in future generations?

are you up for the challenge?

Having worked in politics and seen how it works first hand, no, I would never run for any kind of office. Firstly, the pressure is immense and secondly the pay, compared to other, comparable professions, is ridiculous. No way would I take a pay cut and at the same time open myself up to the kind of crap politicians have to take.

Maybe,I would have said certainly a short while back but will now wait and see what happens in voting being held at present and how things work out.

smudgie 27-04-2016 04:06 PM

Far too many skeletons in my cupboard.
As has been said, it is a thankless task as well.

Its a much better option to be advising from the wings

Joey, you are our future PM and a fine and fair one you will make :cheer2:

the truth 27-04-2016 04:23 PM

many of them make a lot of money on the back end with media jobs, books, public appearances, backhanders, cash for questions, insider trading , advice per hour like malcolm fifkind etc milking expenses

Most MPs of all parties do their best and the greater majority do little and nothing wrong.

If I ever stood for office and won any council seat or parliamentary seat,I would only want to try to speak up for and help as many people as I could who needed help.

Wages are pretty good in my view and the honour of public service to constituents should be the main thing in standing for any election.

For the record, Malcolm Rifkind by the way was cleared of any wrongdoing so I will not join the slandering of him here.

:joker:No if I ever go for it, one day just being an MP doing the absolute best for my constituents and for groups of people and causes I believe in will be more than enough for me.

Nicky91 27-04-2016 04:55 PM

no, way too political for me :joker: :joker:

When I was in Primary we had elections and I created the Sour Grapes Party, it was a long tough campaign period and i had to canvas a lot of my peers and make promises and deliver on them. One was to clean out the hamster cage that Fiona Fergusson was supposed to do, but i got her vote. The count was intense but in the end my party prevailed and i was elated and elected.

I won a pack of 3 Mars Bars.

Yes I was big time and i cant say i did not enjoy my moment in the sun, alas the next day Hamish Donald split his head open sliding on ice in the playground and my victory was forgotten and dissapeared like snow falling in a Spring brook.

It was a harsh political lesson and one that still burns. So no, i wont be running for any office now.

(all true, little crybaby bastard with his split head)

i didnt say it was wrong doing , yet again you deliberately miss the point, but its yet another major fringe benefits where mps like that can earn tens of thousands more to their salaries amongst many other fringe benefits youve chosen to ignore.

:wavey:I mean this in the absolutely nicest way, the way you post, is always an interesting read for me and yet you are really good at coming down on both sides at times while never really revealing what you may really think.

I massively admire that and so I think you would be good in politics, interviewers would struggle to really be able to trip you up in any way.

Even when you have responded to me and been,I think, disagreeing, I have had to smile and think, what does she really mean there.

You are awesome and I love your posts and how you post whether we agree or not.

What about the Mars bars? I think that's the question we all want answered. I'm sick of politicians taking back-handers.

There was some corrupt election on here once ... it was a democratic nightmare.

Joey I really want you to go into politics and in another way I don't want your sweet soul blackened.
