Why was Sam Heuston so unpopular with the public?

No matter how many times I rewatch BB6 I always fail to see why she was so disliked. She was picked on by Lesley and co, was shouted down by Derek in the kitchen for no reason, had her possessions hidden from her, felt like she had no friends in the house etc. Normally that would be a winners edit in any other series - so why not BB6? (Lets be real she would've been in Week 1 if Makosi hadn't passed her task, and in Week 2 if Vanessa hadn't got the whole house up, so her lasting 3 weeks is actually kinda funny to me idk why )

The only thing I can put it down to is the same reason I put it down to with Jodie Marsh - she was a young, pretty model who was a quite flirty and care free)

She was lovely but a tad dull and most of her airtime came from faking an orgasam whereas Jodie was actually entertaining and gravely misunderstood

It's weird how you see things differently years later when you're older.

I remember at the time disliking her and finding her incredibly annoying.

Re-watching clips years later I was shocked at how she obviously had extremely low self esteem. I felt sorry for her.

Jack_ 07-05-2016 06:35 PM

I 'd Sam, but most of it was probably me being a horny kid

She was probably hated cause she was a woman who was open with her sexuality

Jamie89 07-05-2016 06:49 PM

I remember disliking her at the time, but I have no idea why to be honest. Whenever I've watched old clips back I love her, she's kind of adorable.

I really liked Sam when I first saw BB6, I hadn't joined here at that point or read up about the series and I was shocked by how hated she was, I thought she came across really well and she stood tall even when overrated jealous Leslie pretty much bullied her.

I'm with you in never fully understanding why she was so hated, she didn't really do anything wrong imo...she had a few cringe moments but she wasn't as awful by any standards

Shaun 07-05-2016 07:24 PM

It was mostly because of how boring she was I think, that's what most of the comments about her were at the time... plus masturbating in a box is never going to warm you to the public.

She could be a little bit prissy too - I remember a diary room rant where she said she hated absolutely everyone in the house and thought they were really unintelligent and beneath her. So it wasn't totally unjustified, she could be a bit of a dick.

She didn't really say anything at all.

Quite a strange character she was.

She did like flashing her 'Auntie Annie' off to the paparazzi once she was out, Which in my view was a plus.

Entertaining legend

Samm 07-05-2016 08:10 PM

She's massively overrated on here, so I'm glad they didn't like her!

MattySadler 09-05-2016 08:48 PM

I didn't understand why they disliked her so much at the time and after watching it back five or six times I still don't really understand it. I guess she is/ was clearly very insecure and had low self-esteem, and therefore was a bit of a try-hard, so I can see why that might annoy some.

Many things I think led to her downfall in the house and with the public, I personally always felt she was a little too young and immature for BB at that time in her life, if she left it a year or two I think she would have done a lot better. Plus she was unlucky to land in one of the bitchy and downright brutal BB houses, she stood no chance.

I remember her doing that rant in the DR, but she was all about her looks and I never remember her coming out with a intelligent conversation in the house. The fact is she isolated herself from the rest of the housemates when she went straight for Maxwell and Anthony thinking they'd follow her around like lapdogs on her first night, which they did for a few days then Saskia came in and stole both away from her. Then Craig took a disliking to her cause of Anthony. Saskia pretty much had her kicked out of their gang. After that she was on her own with both sides disliking her. The last week or so of her stay was uncomfortable and she didn't help herself really. Her getting voted out was a blessing for her.

I did feel sorry for her, the night that horrible Lesley bullied her by hiding her make-up.

I think Sam was in the wrong year, I would say that she would of done well in the 2006 season,

aman201 21-06-2017 10:51 PM

Cos she didn't do anything and was boring as fcuk.

Oh yeah lol.

Cool maybe she was a bit up herself as well.

Jason. 21-06-2017 11:26 PM

I don't think the BB6 house was for her. It was such a hostile environment and almost everyone in there was either crass or confrontational and she was overshadowed by some of the more bigger and volatile personalities. For a woman who came across as sexually confident in her VT, she was actually really insecure.

Like someone above said, she would've been better in another series, like BB7/8.

she was a dull mess in the house I am afraid

Epic. 30-12-2017 02:56 PM

She was repeatedly annoying her housemates with awful singing and a hard to live with annoying attitude that really amped itself up every now and again. Lots of the housemates perceived her as fake because of her spontaneous laughter at inappropriate intervals so their viewpoints would probably influence the public too. She was also up against Derek and Roberto the week she was evicted, two far more interesting and bigger housemates.
