Woman Sent Home For Refusing To Wear Heels

She was once a star in Dr.Who , no less

This seems Wrong
let the Lady have the shoes she wants

http://media.skynews.com/media/image...-1-736x414.jpg

[A woman is petitioning the Government
to overhaul workplace laws after
claiming she was sent home without
pay for refusing to wear high heels.
Nicola Thorp, 27, was employed
by a temp agency, Portico,
to work as a receptionist
at PwC's London office.
She says she turned up to work
on her first day wearing flat shoes,
but was told she needed
to wear heels.
When she challenged the policy,
she says she was sent home without pay.]

Studies have shown that wearing high heels places excess pressure on the back and feet. I think the company should be brought into the 21st century.

8 hours a day of hell, I hate wearing heels, as long as she's looks smart it shouldn't matter that she chooses a flat shoe, ridiculous

Shaun 11-05-2016 06:48 PM

I can't imagine how boring you'd have to be to care about a woman's choice of footwear.

Tom4784 11-05-2016 06:49 PM

It's stupid and I hope it works out well for her in the end.

Mokka 11-05-2016 07:24 PM

I'm all for enforcing heels for a dress code... as long as the men have to wear them too :hee:

Marsh. 11-05-2016 07:26 PM

Maybe she was too short to see over the reception desk?

RichardG 11-05-2016 07:27 PM

no one would even see her shoes if she's behind the reception lol

Pete. 11-05-2016 07:28 PM

Justice for Clara's ma?

Did you know that women wear high heels to make the buttocks and breasts more prominent?

Look...

So ridiculous

Crimson Dynamo 11-05-2016 08:36 PM

heels certainly make a woman's legs prettier, that is a fact

and i can see why a receptionist is the face or the company and if she is wearing Birkenstocks its not a good look.

Im not sure why heels are any different to a suit, i mean would people be moaning if it was about wearing a business suit or a shell suit?

How an earth is that a comparison?

What is so bad about wearing flat shoes to work? She's not asked to wear trainers.

Suits are not worn on the feet? So there is a difference.

joeysteele 11-05-2016 08:45 PM

Absolutely pathetic of the Company.

Crimson Dynamo 11-05-2016 08:57 PM

what is she wanted to wear a bobble hat?

every company on earth would say no

Crimson Dynamo 11-05-2016 08:58 PM

what she wears IS very important to a top company

fact

Kizzy 11-05-2016 09:02 PM

well blokes can walk and work in a suit with no pain, so I wouldn't say that's the same thing. being made to wear shoes which blister your heals/are uncomfortable to wear is a more apt comparison

She signed up to and accepted their dress code which included wearing heels. We can argue the toss all day if its necessary as a dress code or not, but she agreed to it, so has no basis for moaning when they tell her to go home for not wearing them

So she should be forced to wear heels so her legs look sexier? um no. You can wear smart flat shoes just as easily
